Nope, they sit flat in the box.
Mike

Poop. But that's OK, I guess. That way I won't try and squeeze in the bench time between now and the show, just install the encoders, your recommended light lube, and let 'em run without all the fiddly bits this time.

For those who missed out, MBK is showing a handful a GP60Bs in stock again.  Hurry or you'll miss them.

Here you go . I hope this helps. I would use Labelle 108 or similar.

Mike

Mike,

Thanks again.  I took the locomotive apart last night and applied some oil.  I ran the locomotive in each direction for twenty to thirty minutes to break it in.  It's much quieter.  In fact, it's so noticeably less noisy that I think the mechanism must have not only been underlubed, but practically dry.  Now, it doesn't seem much louder than a standard Atlas locomotive, so I am very pleased.

Found the same scenario tonight on a pair a buddy brought over.  The bearings at the worm seem to be fine as they picked up some of the grease on the gears.  The dry bearings, and ones that are making noise, are the two motor shaft bearings.  A drop of plastic compatible oil and everything quieted down.

Nice video; looks like you have some great help there. And I love the John Lennon quote.I was lucky enough to run into him once and ask for an autograph. Didn't get it, but it gave me a great story to tell.

I did.  Just one GP60M, which I justify on the Seaboard Central as being involved in some sort of power swap in a temporal rift.  I model 1983-86, and, unfortunately, the locomotive is circa 1990 at best.  That's a shame, but... well... um... Rule #1, right?  A GP60M in AT&SF red and silver warbonnet is just too cool.  Besides, it takes me back to my youth when my first decent quality locomotives were an HO Athearn F7A and an F7B in the warbonnet scheme.  Let me tell you, for a seven- or eight-year-old kid in the 1970s, those model locomotives were the sh!t.

I'll try to remember to pack it up tonight.  I haven't put on the detail parts yet, but I've got it decoderized, lubed, and running smoothly.  It's on the point of the Juice Train with a SBD B30-7 as we speak.

Chuck shipped mine on Saturday, and they arrived in the "state of misery" on Monday. Wow, fast shipping by both Chuck and the USPS.

Haven't had a chance to run them, but they are "GOOD LOOKING" units, and well worth the wait that it took to come to market.

Paint and details look outstanding.

He shipped mine on Friday and I received it on Saturday.  Can't beat that.  Next-Day Saturday Delivery for half the price of standard UPS Ground, 3-day transit, which I would've gotten the following Tuesday for twice the price.

I was damned glad he got a few for stock.  After waiting for these since the instant they were announced on Facebook, and thinking all this time I had pre-ordered it from Chuck, I came home last week to find out that I didn't ever place an order.   Managed to snag a couple, and they look so good they'll hopefully be enough to get me back into the modeling room to get some stuff done so I can justify getting these all detailed up.  Really got to wrap up that M420.

So I opened up my GP60Ms today and I think I know why the light is basically non-existent at the ditch lights. The light tube in the GP60M is very angular compared to the light tubes of the FVM GEVO or even other Kato locomotives which have more of a curve down to the front. What I'll probably end up doing is cutting the light pipe near where it enters the floor and install an additional 0603 in hopes that it transmits light better.

Question for Wutter or whomever,

If you add led's, where do you attach them and is it necessary to add resistors?
