125th Anniversary Autorack

I took this yesterday in Decatur, IL on an EB NS train

Wow, when I clicked on the link, I was slightly underwhelmed.  I had to look really close to even see who owned the rack.  In a passing train, I'm surprised that you were able to pick up on this and take a picture.  But, you probably have better eyes than me.  On the bright side, there's more room for graffiti.

Interesting that the logos are for KCS as the WRWK (Formerly Warwick Railroad) reporting marks are currently listed under Providence and Worcestor.

It seems to be fairly common for the rack owner and the flat owner not to match.  Hence you see all sorts of logos on flats with TTX reporting marks.

That's the way it's done. When TTX started the "your rack on our flat" program decades ago, the arrangement was so successful everybody just kept with the plan. My guess is that WRWK is being used by (P&W's, or whoever's) holding company to do something similar.

When the flatcar owner is TTX; not that common otherwise.

The 125th anniversary is when KCS was founded.  Arthur E. Stilwell founded KCS in 1887. Stilwell envisioned a single-line railroad from the heartland of the United States to the Gulf of Mexico.

Building off of this vision to develop a north-south railroad, KCS extended its network into Mexico in 1997 by joining with Transportación Ferroviaria Mexicana, S.A. de C.V. (TFM) to operate the Northeast Railway. In 2005, KCS acquired full ownership of TFM and renamed its Mexico operations Kansas City Southern de México, S.A. de C.V. This acquisition resulted in the first and only coordinated rail network between the United States and Mexico.  I would assume a similar story for the Panama Canal Railway?

Seems as though these will make a great canvas much like the modern reefers.  The 125th logo and railroad heralds are cool.
