Great report! Many thanks.

The Atlas S-2 particularly catches my eye, it looks very good, and I shall be after a few. Lots of other interesting stuff too.

Cheers,

Kev

Prairie Shadows: New 70 ton bulkhead flat for you BC fans.

And also CN, DWC, Algoma Central, North American (NAFX) if they choose to run those roadnames.

Has anyone ever seen a shot of the Bman Alco S4 with the shell off?

I want to add what I hope will shed some optimism on the view of KATO; I was assured by e-mail that if KATO Japan offers an item it will come to KATO USA.
 ;)

Roger,
what exactly do you mean?
Kato USA proposes or requests models of North American prototype. Then Kato Japan does or does not decide to produce them.  But *ALL* the items which were proposed bu Kato USA which were produced are sent to Kato USA.  THere are no US prototype models made by Kato which have not been distributer in the US.

But Kato Japan makes *HUNDREDS* of non US prototype models (mostly Japanese prototypes, but also some German or other types) which are not imported to USA by Kato USA. I don't think that this is about to change.  You can get most of those foreign models through online dealers.

Besides, in this thread, we are specifically discussing possibilities of Kato (Japan, USA) making models of US prototypes. As such, they will show up in the USA - there no question about that.

Looks like I missed the Hot Deals Daniel found. That is because I had a set itinerary and I didn't really stray much from following my map.

Tex-N-Rail had a set of 9 original Rivarossi heavyweight passenger cars but they wanted to sell them as a set. I thought about it but I decided to pass.

Jim's son at the Con-Cor display (which just had the old N scale stuff: the M-10000, AeroTrain, and the PZ), told me that they haven't abandoned the UP gas turbine loco. They have problem with the manufacturer in China and they are hoping that it'll be resolved soon.

The NH Blue Comet will not be made in N scale because they only got about a third ot the reservations they needed to start production.

Has anyone noted any HO scale offerings or announcements at the show? I've heard about the Athearn GP50 (cool, but not relevent to the railroads I model) only an Athearn announcement was hotly anticipated before the show, but haven't heard anything else about anything. I'd love to see a version of this report over on the HO side. I know this is kind of the wrong forum, but no body has been posting anything over in any of the HO fora.

I would think that the $450 list price in the depts of the recesion had something to do with it?   Maybe a new announcement in a year or so to garner more interest might work?

The InterMountain table had samples of the most recent or upcoming releases -  The Tropicana mechanical reefers, SP cab forward, 60' flatcars, I think the F3s, the CN SD units, the Red Caboose 40' flats and centerbeams.  No AAR flats or bulkhead flats.  There were four tables of both HO and N product.

Brian, are those X65's kits or RTR's?

Doubtful.  The X65 is a good fit because it utilizes the X58 Hydra-Cushion underbody and detail parts.

Yes, the Deepwater green cars.

ESM must do this scheme...

I'll put it on the list.  Century green NYC is first though.
