I'll add Jeff Briggs' NSC Box Car to the list... to the impressive list!

Now we just have to convince someone to make us a GMD-1 and were set!!!

I have been noticing the relative increase in Canadian roadnames as well.

I guess the expansions of CN and CP may have made them more household names across North America.  Doesn't explain BCR of course.

As well, while many of the producers you list are Canadian producers focusing on a Canadian "niche", I wonder if the relative effect of the recessions may have something to do with it as well?  Canada was very very fortunate to not feel the recession anywhere near as deeply as our friends to the South so I wonder if there may been more free hobby capital up here?

No deep analysis of course...just speculating.  Now back to that bridge...

We below you don't feel sighted as nothin' up there don't wind up down here at times .

More than most people know or bother to learn.

In fact, CP (3rd) and CN (6th) are two of the top six road names I need for my roster.  If course it's pretty much just box cars, but I'll be eyeing a slab side if it comes about.

Nice gon!

Obvious question is - is it a close stand in to any US prototypes...?

Looks newer and larger than the BLMA ACF gon, but smaller than the Trainworx Thrall gon.

I can't think of any US prototypes with that style post/rib.

This looks like it.

It does look like they can be bashed into other Canadian prototypes, FWIW.

edit: Looks like I can get a CP one for hauling iron to southern Iowa (presumably for interchange).  Yeah, my first Rapido car.  :)

There's also the Kato ES44AC, AC4400CW and SD9043MAC all for CP. And I believe beside the Kato modern stuff FVM has done the CP ES44AC too and the CN ES44DC, that new fangled locomotive they're doing is the CN SD70M-2 and it should be joined by the CN SD70ACe once EMD starts delivering them.

This year just got real expensive.

MSRP on Prairie Shadows rolling stock is also going to be the street price since it is exclusive to them. When I saw the pricing for the PSC van when first introduced I felt that it was fair given the uniqueness of the prototype and that only CN (two schemes... the Op. Life Saver scheme being a one off), Algoma Central, and Ontario Hydro being the only users I can think of. I wasn't expecting the MSRP on the freight cars to be above $25-28 range (based on my total lack of experience in pricing N scale models, this was just a guess), and wonder if that will hurt sales? I hope not, because, well... giggidy!

If there is one thing I've longed for, it was someone to do Canadian prototype freight cars RTR, and Prairie Shadows / Rapido is apparently going to deliver, big time. I can't find the time to do much modeling given the amount of time I'm at work, and a general lack of measurable talent is another concern. Though the wallet is in the corner, gently weeping, I'm all smiles  :D

BTW, is the gon based on an actual prototype, or is it a 'composite' design? If there is a proto for it, who used them? Is it a match for either of these gons CP operates:
http://freight.railfan.ca/cgi-bin/image.pl?i=cp341810&o=cprail
and this one:
http://freight.railfan.ca/cgi-bin/image.pl?i=cp342828&o=cprail

This CN car looks the similar, but I get the feeling its not the same as the model:
http://freight.railfan.ca/cgi-bin/image.pl?i=cn195755&o=cn

TH&B has NSC cars that look like the model (shape of the car, rib count and spacings):
http://freight.railfan.ca/cgi-bin/image.pl?i=thb2453&o=thb
http://freight.railfan.ca/cgi-bin/image.pl?i=thb2621&o=thb

Anyone shed some light on this car? I'm not much of a freight car guru, so I really can't tell what it is.

It's hard to tell for sure from that picture, but it seems to match very well with an Eastern Car Works  75 ton drop end gondola.

And to think that there is more stuff coming from PS.   :D  I don't think you will have to pay MSRP, well at least I know i won't.....

It's be nice to pay below MSRP. This is already expensive, and with the recent pace of announcements, yikes. I fear I'm not going to be able to get one of every road number anymore.

Just remember the famous words of President "W"!

"Canada is one of our best neighbors to the North".

Of course you are getting the respect you deserve.
