 I did a cardstock mock up to see if it will fit my N layout.Karen walked in the room and instantly gave her approval of your school so I guess you best put me on the list for it.

My first thought - looks just like the elem school I attened in the 1960s. The windows

Thank you so much for sharing this, all three of my schools are in there including the various stages of demolition of my high school. All will be gone this year. I grew up in NE Ohio but haven't lived there for 36 years.

Oh wow, I never heard of the company, guess its obvious I'm new to N scale... And just in case they happen to read this, I'm sorry for criticizing your workmanship.    Can it be similar but different? I think the rule of thumb it has to be about 25% different in design. How one measures such things is beyond me.

Wait, someone just read the M:160 post and didn't realize the kit was already for sale in N scale?

-Chuck showed us a structure he liked. Others chimed in and agreed.
-I thought I'd design one. It is marketed, I see now, by a company I never heard of since I am new to N scale. Read new.
-If you have a blog called M:160 I had not heard of it, visited it, or knew it was you so relax. Read new. So I never saw the building before, no.
-My laser buddy Robert Ray had said that you can design something similar to another as long as there is about 25% of it that is dissimilar.
-So, I made a building similar to the one shown but instead of looking like the original it actually looks much different.
-Several have liked the rough draft.
-I am not stealing anyone's design.
-I am simply starting into N scale, can't know it all coming in.
-That was as simple English as I know.
-Mike, I can take what you dish out, that's what newbies have to do. But I have found a very forgiving group here. Just wish you could chill over something this small.

               Anyone besides myself groew up in the 1960's with the "Kenner Girder & Pannel" building sets. I had a medium sized set,the scale size was a bit closer to S Gauge than HO.This building remindes me alot of what you could do with those sets.Yes a school with that type of exterior panneling might be nice to have. I was very confused by this thread for a while, but I think I get it now:

* Karin thought that Chuck's initial post was showcasing someone's scratch built model and "wouldn't it be nice if someone offered this as a kit."  Easy to imagine if one wasn't familiar with M160 and hadn't read the text below the model photo.

* A mere half-hour later, preliminary drawings are done, and she's asking Catt for more details.  (This is the part that really threw me, but I see now that Catt=Chuck for these purposes.)

* A few side bars about intellectual property and whatnot ensue, but in the end, we have two fine new additions to the N building repertoire.   And I have returned from the Twilight Zone.

I'm not dishing Karin, just really confused by the whole thing.  I thought the post on M:160 was pretty clear, even if someone hadn't been in N scale long.  But like Gary said, maybe the text and additional photos below the opening photo are off the screen depending on the size of your browser window when opened?... and it wasn't clear the link was to an article and not just a photo?

If that's the case, then I can start adding text above the opening photos to try and minimize confusion.
