A slab side hopper from Geoff Gooderham (pre-production model) . . .

Can you provide a link to his website if he has one?

Joe

Joe: Geoff doesn't have a website; he produces cars mainly for his own use and sells a few through Vancouver BC's Central Hobbies. They are the exclusive dealer for his stuff. Their website is http://www.central-hobbies.com/products/products.html. They do not update Geoff's product page very often; he has both a new CPR "Cape" Solarium car and a HW Baggage express car in stock at Central that isn't listed yet.

Really; Geoff's just making a few cars for himself and a few for "the gang".... I think he'll be hard pressed to meet the deamnd on the slab side hopper when it's out.......
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

How does the quality on the slab side look Tim?  If it is good I will be in for a dozen ...and I hope Geoff is ready for the onslaught!

Not bad - comparable with his other efforts.  Quite a complicated car to engineer a kit for.  The car is a solid resin block with additions for the sides, roof, end ladders, etc.  The model will require a brake platform, brake wheel and running board.  Best bet for the latter will likely be a Plano Products one - either extending a 40' one or shortening a 50' one.  There is a six square hatch CPR version and an eight round hatch CN/PGE version (for which the discharge gates need to be trimmed back).  I will work on hte model in hte coming week and might be able to offer more then, and I can take a better photograph for you after recovering my camera tomorrow.

As the Pudster indicated, Geoff's products are available through Central Hobbies in Vancouver, but this model is not yet in production.

Great stuff in here... I was actually working on that same SP Dash-9! I'll have to pick a different roadnumber....

I spent this weekend body-mounting couplers and lowering boxcars. This is the first one I did (on the left, of course):

Couldn't stand the plain sloped look on the right side of the mountain so I decided to finally add some rock faces to the edge.  Could of just added a bunch of trees and bushes to disguise it since its not in plain view, but I figured that just wouldn't be right.  Also purchased a couple Atlas L&N C630 engines to add to the coal hauling fleet.

Before:

After:

And a few shots with the C630's

And a couple randoms

Thanks for looking!

New Bluford Shops Conrail transfer caboose... This will be used with my 1980-era equipment, so please ignore the obvious steam-era equipment in the yard behind!

David, your rock work and scenery is very convincing.   I wonder from the last photo if you could add a few inches of scenery in the foreground by expanding the benchwork a smidge.  It might be worth considering to give that track scene on the edge some depth.

Thanks David!  Always appreciate your comments and suggestions.  Cannot wait to see the progress on your White River and Northern!  Your work is always top notch and amazing!

Thanks Scott!  I will definately consider this.   Already had plans of following the track further out (about 3 or 4 feet) to make another branch line for a stone quarry or another coal mine but hadn't thought about expanding out from the front.  I agree it will add more depth and probably more interest to the scene.

Thank you very much.  I have a friend who models the TH&B and CN in eastern Canada and was thinking of these cars for him.  i will pass along the information.  Thank you very much!

Mee, too! Actually, I did make progress but just didn't have the time to do much documenting as I was getting ready for Amherst. The next Weekend Update should hopefully make up for it.
