Wow, real traction motors.  I'd love to see how it performs.  Do they say anywhere how much this loco weighs compared to a comparable classic design?

Gary, in the video the guy mentions there's more weight, but no specifics.
This really makes sense as the next step for locomotive design; just look at the work some of the guys here have done with coreless motors and other such things; wonder how long it will take to shrink down to N scale.

Am I the only one who couldn't hear anything?

It is neat, but Railflyer has beaten them to the punch by a few years. Of course that assumes any of their stuff exists.

If N scale had good SD40-2s, C30-7s, U30Cs, SD45s, SD40s, and SW10s; I'd be in N scale.

wouldn't it be about the same as Athearn's DD40, except with much smaller motors?

I'd be all worried about the gear ratio. Katos are already known to be fast and now they move to even less room for reduction. But if it works great.

The issue I think Ed is refering to is that every single motor has slight variances in how it runs compared to another. That and current draw may need a higher rated decoder for multiple motors

Chris, if the motors are wired a certain way, would it be possible to slow them down electrically?

I know this is talking out of my rear, but then couldn't you run two decoders and speed-match the motors?
