I tell you the Traincat stuff was amazing. Pictures on the internet do not do it any justice. You need to see it to believe it. Those bridges are amazing and so was the woodchip plant.

A few views from this morning.

FVM:

I wonder if they will model the cushion underframe ... the pilot model clearly does not.

Thanks for the pics David!

Can I make a suggestion?

I'm not at Amherst but the thought crossed my mind for future events

At these shows it would be nice for Railwire members that are attending and haven't met other members in person if we were all to wear a name tag with our user name or something else to identify each other with....

I'd sure like to be able to recognize those that I haven't met in person while walking around the show!

Your thoughts...

Walthers had some samples of their SW9/1200 out. I would love to repaint a few of these in MEC/BM.

Isn't this Atlas' first public showing of the S-2? Not an announcement, of course, but certainly confirmation of good things to come.

Don't forget that Kato doesn't pre-announce any more. If it's news from Kato, it's already in the container and on the ship.

Good points!

Anyone notice if Atlas had pre-production samples of the  89' flatcar???   Looking forward to some projects with those....

Still anxiously waiting for them to announce road names but I guess that will come when it is "officially" announced.

I'll be honest with you guys; I argued against these with Jason and the Rapido guys in favour of other n scale conversion projects but obviously I didn't win.... I hope you O-B guys are going to enjoy Jason's efforts.....
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

I had a great time at the show (I was there on Saturday).  I didn't bother taking any pictures as I knew others would take plenty of photos.

I chatted with Bryan (FVM ESM), Bob (TrainCat), Dave (deluxe), Matt (FVM), Eric (MT) and several others.  I was ecstatic that after several years of waiting, Rapido Trains finally decided to produce the Osgood-Bradley cars in N Scale!!  But still no news on the Turbo Train.  :(

Here are some of my random comments: I can't believe that I missed seeing Atlas' S-2!!  I didn't see it on display.  The Bachmann's S-4 however, looked pretty good to me.  Judging by the way the tender wheels and pickups are designed,  the Atlas 4-4-0 should be an excellent runner.  The paint on Kato E-5 is an excellent representation of stainless steel but it si too bad that they didn't use the matching color on the truck shrouds.

I was also the first person to buy the TrainCat yard light tower kit. Bob had to put the brass fret in a plastic bag for me and there are no instructions, but it is a simple kit.  It looks really good!  I also talked with Bob about his decision to discontinue the rolling stock kits and what he said made sense. He might, in the future, still produce some small runs of certain models.  DKS left some CAT models on Bob's table so I was finally able to pick up one of those little gems.

Bryan (ESM) said that he might produce another structure kit. It will most likely be a resin-cast kit made from flat-printed rapid-prototyped parts.

I can't believe another Amherst show is behind us!
