Ah. The Rail Whale has finally surfaced.

So close :(

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Nice.  KCS units.  Good for a couple of those.

But you know what would be really nice?

The KCS GP40s that were originally announced in December of 2010.

I'm not as looking forward to the GP38s as I am the 40ECOs, but I still hope they don't take some 2.5 years to arrive.

Those GP38s and GP40s are scheduled to be on the container shipping at the end of January.  Now let's hope that there isn't yet another port strike...

Well the only saving grace on the baby Belle's not arriving yet is I have been able to spend my money on other things, right Chuck?

I wish they would announce that their online store is back up. :(

I wish they would announce that C-55 switches are in stock in sufficient quantity to satisfy all of the pent-up demand. :(

Paul

Good grief, yes! I'm just glad that the shortage has coincided with a hiatus in track-laying, but sooner or later I've got another layout level to build.

Online store is getting close - but if you need something right now you may want to fax or phone your order in, it may get processed faster that way.

The code 55 stuff is scheduled for production starting in March, turnouts probably in April, so that would be a May arrival.

That's true.

Those Belle coil cars I was able to pick up were beautiful.   Made me wish I could justify purchasing a lot more of them.

And, if you're curious Philip, I figured out where they're all that (on the real thing).  I often wondered, as I'd never seen one in person.  For that matter, never seen more than a couple coil cars of any sort ever on KCS trains.  But, I was down in Brownville for Xmas, and the Port there is completely packed with Southern Belle KCS coil cars along with many others.  Hundreds and hundreds of the things of which KCS/TFM were probably about half.  Turns out, Brownsville is a huge port for steel (some foreign, much coming down the Mississippi on barge), and it goes from Brownsville immediately into Mexico for use in the automotive plants there.

Wish it was sooner, but good news none the less! Looks like I might have to set myself a goal to be ready for more track laying come May.

I did not know that - we do see them sometimes in New Orleans in substantial numbers.  I have 3 of the Atlas Coil cars (which are da bomb) waiting for the baby Belle to pull them.

Better waaaaaay late than never, I guess.  I know better than to hold my breath.  Still, I'm getting excited.

Canuks, how close to prototype are the CP cars?  Any considerable rivet, panel, or end bracing differences going on between the Atlas car and the real thing?  I can't find any photos online.
