Too bad its "Subscriber-Only Content" but its only going to hurt themselves (the link is worthless if you are not a subscriber).  The change made by them to "Subscriber-Only Content" was reason enough for me not to subscribe any longer... 'course having only 5 out of the 12 issues for a year that were worth a hoot didn't help things either.  I pick and choose what issues I want and what magazines I buy... and am glad I save myself money when its an issue that isn't of interest to me.

Its a great article, lacking in some of the motive power details about the early MMID and also its excursion service. The early GP-9 paint scheme was literally a knock off of the WM Speedscript paintscheme.

The track layout is fantastic in relation to the undustries, and I hope to incorporate most of it into my current layout plans that are still developing.

I'll have to look that one up...  I've been considering the east sub as a theme for some time...  Do they do much west of Union Bridge?  That's where all the best scenery (and most of the Union Bridge traffic) is...

Yes, Union Bridge is on the lower level and the yard is almost track for track in the current configuration. It goes all the way to the CSX interchange at Highbridge. The town breakdown is as follows:
1/2 level - Emory Grove - below branch to Woodsboro
1st level - Finksburg, Union Bridge, Middleburg, Keymar and branch to Woodsboro
2nd level - Thurmont, Sabillasville, Blue Ridge Summit, Highfield

Staging is essentially a loop across the width of the room and a two turns around that width to go between levels,

Do they have the new spur to the cement plant, or the more traditional route up the middle of Farquhar Street?

Heading to the News Stand as soon as I've got $6 to rub together...

Traditional in the middle because, as the author stated, it's just too cool not to model,

Somewhere in the stacks of stuff I have some plans that I was fooling with for a multi level job similar to this.  It ran afoul of the sloped attic ceiling and was still-born.

Having actually watched the switchers climb up the street, I agree... way too cool not to model.  Of course the downside is you won't be era-correct to build the NASA-like cement plant that's there now...

How about the Union Bridge complex of the WMRHS?  Do they have the historic freight cars displayed next to the depot?

(I really need to get this edition...)

Depot is there but the plan didn't incorporate the freight cars, or at least, they identify the Maryland Midland Headquarters. Probably wouldn't be too hard to add,

That's some good soup.  I'll have to get a pot to put it in... :|

Although, I could build small modular sections of it... she won't notice until it magically appears in the den!

This link covers most, if not all, of the power that the MMID has had over the years...

Lee, Bob has the plan, in his form, on his website. Here's a link to the top level, the others are to the gallery link below:
