...plus having 3 dogs and a cat I find it's just not worth doing a tree...

...Always had an American Flyer under the tree when I was young.  It looked move realistic that Lionel to me.

We have a dog and 2 cats. No tree for us.

I also thought Lionel didn't look right, what with the 3-rail track. I had American Flyer too as a boy.

Hmm... I have a tree in
my treehouse...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

Not me.  Don't need one since the tree and my layout are in the same common family room.

Nah,not anymore.I have two big goofy Pittbulls, they don't actually bother the train, but when they start to play,if they accidentally ran into it,it would be dust. They never go near the tree other than to smell it,but my wife starts to play with them, sometimes she gets carried away,LOL!! It's funny..Seems they know it's something special.I just lost my male,Samson,a few months ago. He's give it a sniff, look at me,and wag his tail.
A funny story..My buddy came to my house with his wife..[Not the sharpest hammer in the drawer..] It was August..She looked at my model railroad, and says:"Where do you put the tree?"

We have three dogs, one cat and two kittens and have G scale trains under the tree. They leave the G scale alone most times, but when they do get hit in their caboose they vacate  the area pretty quick!!   :o :D

It's not Christmas without trains!

Here is what goes under my tree:

until they get taken up to put presents under the tree. Then I go back up to the loft (see blog below).

I made layouts for each of my 4 adult kids similar to this one that I once did for my office at work:

I just cut a hole in one of the loops for the Christmas tree to pop out of:

My youngest son loved Micro Machines as a kid, so for his layout I used all his old Micro Machine buildings:

My oldest son lost his layout when he moved back to New Jersey from Nashville (his wife is a talented singer), so it was replaced with the 6'x6' L shaped layout I had made for work (but decided it was too much hassle to set it up every year):

Like I said, it is not Christmas without trains!

I don't have one at home this year but I have a loop of Lionel track and a small tree on the file cabinets in my office at work.

I have one of those nice O scale narrow gauge train sets that Bachmann does.  It runs great and is big enough that my dog doesn't mess with it.

Acrylic
shield keps the clumsy coonhound off layout.  While she is only mildly interested in trains but track is very near tail wagging level and that would be a complete disaster.  Twister simulation in Nscale...

This question was asked at our club's Christmas dinner Friday night and not one member has a train under the tree. Very strange. We won't be home so we didn't do a tree.
