I like the name "Tickler's Pickles."
But now I'm being unconstructive...

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law
and you've pulled your last straw!

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Wow lots of photos I haven't seen before, like Erie f-units on the guantlet track.

I can't think of where the feed co. was, but on the layout I already have a feed building on the right:

Ok,now,I just GOTTA ask..Considering the apparent popularity of pickles on model railroads, pickle factories, pickle cars, pickle vats, pickle pussed railroad engineers,ETC,has anyone here ever actually SEEN any of these aforementioned facilities in real life? and do they,in fact, actually look like our models?[Well,YOUR models,I refuse to be drawn into the "pickle scam".. :P] Most pickle factories I see on model railroads look like places where they should be making fertilizer, not food..

Green Bay Food Company: http://binged.it/TdarfP

This is located on the former Green Bay and Western, adjacent to Norwood Yard and the GBW shops.
A bit more info here: http://www.greenbayroute.com/1965gbfoods.htm

Norwood Yard was a very cool place to watch trains. A rather small yard that could be modeled full size in N!

Best wishes, Dave

If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

There were plentiful pages in RMC presently past on pickle plants placed particularly perpendicular to the passing procession of passengers in Pullmans.

Actually, there's a pickle factory (or what once was one) about a mile from my home, in the south-west corner of town. (Genoa City, WI) It's along the old, abondoned Kenosha division of the C&NW. (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl) It just north of the state line, east of the bend in Fellows Road.

It's been closed since before I moved to town in 1967. I don't know if there was ever a rail spur to it. Or whether the line's abondonment had anything to do with the factory closing. Anyway, the building is concrete block. And has been vacant the 40+ years I've lived here.

There very well may have been a siding down to the pickle plant.  There seems to be some indication of a ROW, most notably just west of the intersection of County Hwy. B/Freeman St. and Kossuth St.  The dirt tracks present a clear path, which continues to be projected towards the mainline by the tree line just north of the elementary school between CH B and Summer St.  How old is the north-most extension of the school?  If it is per-abandonment, that would shoot my theory down.  Also, if you look northeast of the pickle plant, in the tree canopy opening just south of County Rd B and the island in the creek, there appears to be the remnants of a steel girder bridge.  That spur would have picked up the main just about where the highway doglegs and crosses Summer St, which has the appearance of once being a small yard.  I love Google Maps!

If you switch to "map" mode, you can see it even more clearly in the property lines. It doesn't seem to be just a siding to the pickle plant, though: it continues northeast past the main, for one thing. All the way out of town; you can follow it all the way up to Silver Lake.  And in the other direction, it continues well past the pickle plant, too. There's a trail on what looks to be the former ROW south of the hatchery that goes all the way to Hebron.

To bad RMC's title really threw that off.  :ashat:
