I travel all over the US and have a photographic file of relatively clueless business names and odd situations I've seen.

I assure you, these are all too real...many are now defunct, perhaps terminally clueless... those are the best ones.

Many years ago, I was walking down Esplanade Avenue in New Orleans when I saw a house that had partially burned down. Next to it was a half-burned trailer that had "Fireball Movers" on the side.

Once I was on a bus just about to enter the French Quarter, looking out the window. I saw the most beat-up, rusted, dented-up pickup I have ever seen. On the door was "Bango Furniture."

I was coming home from a Saints game one Sunday when I saw a one story building with "Otis Elevators" on its sign.

I am not a fan of funny names, but that is just my preference. One thing to consider when naming a structure like this is the ethnicity of an area. For example in Milwaukee, there are were many businesses with Polish and German family names. Next thing to consider is the era and the products that would be manufactured. Finally, look at the structure and the loading facilities. This building is not a foundry, or a steel fabricator, etc..  Not sure if any of this is helpful.

Finally, although you are not asking (but this is The Railwire), I am not a big fan of the water tank on the roof. That is a lot of weight for a building like this, and would require posts extending all the way through the building to the foundation. Maybe put some longer legs on it and put it next to the building?

Instead of punny or cutsey name, how abotu just figuring out what that business does then just naming it after either a family member or one of the layout operators?  Like this:





That way it will look realistic and will make people around you happier.  :)
