PRR Northeastern Divison in N Scale

In the quest to model PRR and my local area, The Wyoming Valley in Northeast PA
This Valley was once home to CNJ,LV,ERIE,NYO&W,D&H,DL&W,and the PRR
I wanted to model a more powerfully PRR then there actually was here using PRRs control over LV as a base I made up a plan that had LV,PRR,ERIE and also would have CNJ RDG
The Line simply follows the LV north out of New York uses the Reading to connect Philly to the LV line then follows that north of the New York border before switching over to the Erie for the final leg to Buffalo

The line is represented by the yellow line on the map

I choose to model the Wyoming Valley area of the line

Here are some overviews of my Hughestown Yard based on the town I live in

The opposite side of the room is still needing work this is "Avoca"
With a 2.5ish percent grade leasing to a switchback and 4 indrustries
And 3 yard leads the double main and a siding with a station icing house and a warehouse

Next in the works is a helix with a staging yard under our current level and an upper level with a large city scene and then a very secinc area on the opposite side here's my plan for that

Currently where trying to finish up avoca and move on to the upper level
This a project of me and my dads work my brother also helps time to time when's he's around
I'm 18 and my brothers 23 oddly enough it was me that got them into this my dad had an O gauge layout when we where young but it was teared  out a few years back and this was layout was started on November 1st of 2011 the old O gauge layout was in the area where avoca now is

I owe you guys more shots of the layout and show you more if what I've done and doing

Good to see you here, Cody.  I like this iteration of the upper level a lot better than previous versions.  That being said, I wonder if the right side of the passenger terminal trackage isn't a little constricting.  There are three tracks there that collapse into one.  Minimally, I would suggest adding in a crossover to the left on the through tracks that would allow a through movement while something is coming out of station.

As I sit here, drinking a beer after a long night of sculpting foam scenery, I see the benefits of a track intensive layout.  I read your thread at NSN, too.  I'm really learning a lot by following these layout engineering threads, hence the redo of my layout for better ops; still have a lot to catch up on.

Keep up the good work, Cody.

How the hell did foam dust end up in places it shouldn't be on my body?

Laid some ballast down heading towards "Avoca"
Before:

After

Small rock wall instead of sloping ballast

Was the same as this simply weathered then cut in half then glued in

All those Coke cups remind me of when I helped a buddy build his first layout back when I was that age.

We didn't know what we were doing and had little funds to do it, but we drank a lot of Coke, had a lot of fun, had a LOT of late nights, and learned a ton!  That layout is still kicking almost twenty years later, and being abused by his family's next generation!

more ballast has been laid and the tracks have been weathered
Looking back at our previous work where pretty sad that we where happy that was good at the time.
so someday it will all be ripped up in the name of progress!
We used a mix of fine and medium ballast from Woodland Scenics Buff, brown, and black colors

I guess its a good sign where at the point of fixing problem spots!

At the end of the yard we had 2 problems caused by 2 switches that came off the yard ladders the switch on the right attached to the yard ladder had a slight curve in it and was derailing my Cab forward and being a problem to some 6 axle diesels

it was removed and replace by another #4 left
While to the left of that #6 right was replaced by a #6 left to get rid of an S curve that wasn`t giving us problems but looked pretty bad with longer engines and rolling stock going over it
(A very old before picture )

and after!

I wanted a very busy layout with a big yard and roundhouse the upper level will still be busy along the long wall but also scenic double tracked line on the opposite sides of the room both levels are planned for ops but we never actually ran an ops session

Here`s the mains ripped out in the name of progress on the pennsy
they will be relayed 1/2" higher making trains more easily seen over the yard tracks plus the trackwork and ballast will look better this track was laid about a year ago

Also Made a google map of my line : http://goo.gl/maps/bjWOD
