After 13 pages of posts, things are really getting good!

I'm havingfuntoo, with my water as lubricant (but I'm not telling you how I  use it)  8)

The printing orientation of the death star caused those horrible striations - it wasn't the solvent!

I was considering PSing that crappy hopper in place of the deathstar, but it was going to be too much work for a quick and dirty PS joke.   Time better spent in sculpting foam scenery.

I have absolutely nothing useful to add to this conversation but it did take me a while to realize that KATFUDGIRL's name was not pronounced cat-food-girl.  I thought that there might have been a Friskies exec. in the group.  I have an awesome idea for making dry cat food color coded to peoples carpet.  That way when your cat barfs (and they do several times a day it seems) it will be much easier to clean and won't stain.  I don't think Bestine works on carpet either.

I wonder if after all this Katfudgirl didn't run for the hills. Couldn't blame her...

Hmm... but why? I'm so

I was thinking that myself! :tommann:  They probably have this thread printed out and hanging in the Shapeways breakroom, next to the water cooler!

That thought has also been on my mind (Kat's user name pronounciation, not the colored dry food).  But I was afraid to mention that.  But I guess now, the cat is out of the bag....

Of course this is all in jest and I sincerely hope that Kat does come back and continues to communicate with us (the immature male model railroaders that we are).

haha! dont worry, Im still here! Theres just been lots of FUD to process!! I want you guys to have clean trains :) I saw that someone mentioned they were worried about things getting carelessly thrown around in the heating and ultrasonicing processs. I promise I treat everything with care and consideration :) If any of you guys have ordered FUD/FD in the past 3 months(US and part of EU), theres a 99% that I've held and inspected that model before it arrived to you. I have some help now though, so things are speeding up!

also, the wax support material has a distinct effect on the FUD crystal - where the support material is used, it is much rougher and frosted. The clear and optical  and smooth are the areas of the model is the part that wax has never come into contact with.

Anyway, I have quite a bit of reading to do on this forum! you guys are schooling me with all your information. I'm writing up a longer post right now to get back to your questions :)

I for one am delighted to know you're hanging in there! I'd also like you to know I'm wholly supportive of Shapeways and your efforts to produce quality product. However, I will say in all honesty that I personally have not pursued much with Shapeways owing to quality issues; the following posts on my company blog highlight some of my prior experiences (the first three provide background for the fourth, which is the article of interest)--

Another Railwire member and I are very interested in the possibility of receiving parts that have not been cleaned, in order to avoid some of the issues with that process. It's just a thought, anyway; I'll be most interested to see what you have to report from your end.

Good to see you still around Katfudgirl!
I'm curious where are you located?  I was under impression that Shapeways farms their FUD jobs to a company in Europe.  Are in USA or in Europe?

Oh, I have an idea for shapeways. Is there any way to add a "models" category in hobbies on your website? It would be even better to have the models separated into scale categories. N scale modelers are mist interested in N scale models, HO would be interested in HO models and so forth.

it would make trying to find what to buy a hell of a lot easier.

I go there and type "N scale" into the search box.

Dang...and she was the only woman to post here! Reminds me of this.

Best wishes, Dave
