IIRC Conrail had a few of these for large MOW crews. I'm shure I can use one or two anyhow, I know we still had many of these in the town I grew up in into the late 90s. From what I can find the S series where in producion from 1979 to 1989 but many are still around today.

Your layouts nice, but it needs more Conrail !

Great choice of vehicle. This model is quite needed; all we had to choose from was the oversized (and too modern) metal casting and the 40s-50s style from... I forget who now  :? . It will work well for me too. It will be fairly new for my '79 era as the older GMCs were being phased out at that time. Bravo, David. Bravo.

The bus definitely has class  :)  I can see an infinite number of decals down the side.

A new older era cab and it could pass for an older era bus on first glance .

Other thoughts

Military bus .

Jail bird bus with screened windows .

Shortened bus for all occasions imaginable .

Modified RR wheeled for MOW .

Modified curb served mobile fast food bus .

Modified mobile urban knife sharpening bus .

No cheeken in this fight since it's post-era, but I vote clear as a standard for vehicles.  The modelers who don't care about window light can always paint over clear, and those of us who do care will have what we want - Win-Win!

After reading several requests for clear castings, I'm changing my vote from yellow casting to clear. Makes more sense.

I don't know that a clear casting with zero wall thickness and no interior is going to be that much of an advantage over a solid color.

I would also love to have some 1950's era buses such as Crowns or something else for my 1950's era Los Angeles layout. Beautiful work! Good on you!

The bus looks great and I would prefer clear casting as well. But I had heard from other MFG.(Willmodels and  made2scalemodels) that they had problems doing clear. If clear can't be done I think a light grey would be better, that way you could paint the bus any color and not have to worry the base color effecting the color you want to paint the bus.                                                                                                                                                                                          The Bus is a model of a IH S series bus 1979-1989? And looks great. But the IH S series has a vent bulge on the rear of the hood. Also on the rear side windows they  look longer then the others. They should be all the same size?                                     Rich

I could easily use a few, as Westover AFB had them driving around the area, especially from the Base to the command center buried in the Notch 10 miles north of the base back in the 60s and 70s. Also my mother in the 60s rode something like that each day in the summer to pick tobacco leaves in the area.

My question is, how long have school buses had both amber and red warning lights? Did the amber warning lights come with the flip out stop signs, swing arms, and all other warning equipment?

Transition to amber warning lights began (generally) in the 60s. Personally, I did not start seeing the swing-out stop signs until the 80s. YMMV.

Pi? I used my eye.

I've not had issues with clear--yet; the test castings I've done using clear have been smaller, so it remains to be seen how it works with this beastie.
