I’ve been so busy with castings and parts for others... I had to have some U.P. therapy.  Here is the engine I started Sunday.  My new casting of an FEF-2 with significant improvement over original casting.

Geoff Gooderham's outstanding shell and base for a classic Canadian Pacific "Cape" series (ex "River" series) Solarium-Buffet- Sleeper is 99% finished (sans an airline and cut lever)

17 passengers in a full rear section interior are present and having fun in the car which will grace the trailing end of CPR's finest passenger consists on my new pike.... Black Cat decals, MT trucks and couplers, misc detail aprts and a few enjoyable hours.....

Cudo's to Geoff for this great addition to the CPR passenger family... available exclusively through Vancouver's Central Hobbies.

Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Progress on the M420 build. I wish I had more to show, but after making progress on Monday night, I was fortunate enough to work pretty late for the balance of the week and only had a few hours on Monday to work on it:

Wipers glued into place on the trucks:

Truck side-frames installed... yes, I didn't realize until it was too late that one on each side is reversed. The brake cylinder is supposed to be on the inward (or fuel tank) side of the trucks

Fuel tank halves and one frame rail glued in place. Checking on track to see that the truck side-frames are not crooked:

Staring to look like progress is being achieved:

Really like to make some real progress this coming week!

The stone arch bridges to the Spruce Creek area looks good, but the third track looks like a major derailment will happen there :scared: Rich

Finally, something to post!

I have been building one of Allen's Eck's PRR F25 well car kits for the past few weekends and it really is exquisite.  I use that word because the etchings are really well designed.

Here is his only pic: http://prrspfdesign.weebly.com/f25a.html

This is a REALLY well done kitl.  The F25 will be by far one of my most cherished models as it is the first brass kit I have ever made.

Just a few pics:

This is the bending tool I made for this kit.  It is made of a small inexpensive pair of vice grips with a brass hinge with each edge ground to a near sharp chamfer.  You align the bend line with the edge of the fixed hinge, clamp the pliers to close the hinge and bend the part.  Works well unless there is only a small flange to bend...

Very nice work on all the rolling stock gents.  I'm still plugging away on weathering but I got briefly distracted into investigating a method to replace the sticky labels we use for car forwarding... then dragged myself back.  I can see the end of the weathering in sight: 300 cars and 42 locos down, 150 cars and 3 locos to go!

I have been trying to practice "under-stated" weathering to balance the fleet...over-weathering seems to be much easier.

Have a great weekend.

There's some significant vertical kinking in the second track from the front as well.

Mike:

Good progress on the M-420 and well-photographed - thanks for posting those.

Very little modelling time for me as we head into the December concert season.

Been out of the loop for awhile, but have almost finished a few projects.  I have run out of options on the CN cabs after messing with them for almost 4 weeks and I did not want to glue them down..  I'm still happy with how they turned out though.

eNjoy!

Hi everyone,

Nothing for me in the last three months. Finally starting to feel less overwhelmed as my son recovers. My wife will have a longer term recovery, but the neurologists say that it will happen.

I must admit, it was difficult to set down at the computer, my heart is tugging to go and just be with Jamie. Although this has been a setback, don't count me out. I will be at Springfield in Jan if the world does not end in 20 days.
