It is indeed Portland.  I shot this in April 2010 when I was there.  Naturally, since it was me, there were no trains and the weather sucked.

I was in Portland in 1999, and the weather was sunny, and there were trains everywhere. I remember looking down off a cliff at some railroad track below, when a Union Pacific train burst out of the tunnel. It was cool.

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.

The curve at the grain elevator.

Thought I saw a photo of it in MR at one time and them saying it was equal to 18"R curve in HO?

Yeah, it's around 240'-250' across or ~9" radius in N.

I got 5 units into primer. I used rustoleum automotive primer. I ran out on the 4th unit and had a can of krylon white primer. I used it to finish the 4th and fifth unit. I don't like the white and may strip it after touching up the noses.

I normally use SEM self-etching primer, but I'm out and it costs 8-9 bucks a can the last time I bought one. Anyone else have recommendations for primer?

If N scale had good SD40-2s, C30-7s, U30Cs, SD45s, SD40s, and SW10s; I'd be in N scale.

That track in Portland, when you say 240-250' across, do you mean that's the diameter  (translating to a 120-125' radius)?  That would be wayyyy tight for freight rail, and quite impressive to see in person...when I was designing light rail lines, we couldn't go below 100', and that's a tight minimum, even for articulated LRV's!!!

Not much modeling this week, other than busting out the old HO Bachmann EZTrack and the crappiest of my crap cars in HO (horn hook couplers, train set stuff when I was first getting started many years ago) and a crap IHC C628 (again, horn hooks) to set up around the Christmas tree at work....just gotta wait for the fools to finish stringing the lights and decorating it....I'm actually really amazed at how excited everyone seems at work about having a train around the tree...I guess I never really realized how traditional/common the train under the tree really is...

I went to visit my brother in Portland twice, and both times we had clear weather for the week. We even got to see Mount St. Helens in clear weather  :o.

The Mountaire Feed Mill in Frankford, DE has two really sharp curves for their inbound loads. Not quite as bad as this Portland mill, but pretty impressive nonetheless.
