Here is a 2-bay version of the fire station from my layout:

I have about two dozen images of JC firehouses. Some are modern, some look like warehouses, the range is pretty broad. Here's a sampling of period structures, which include those still in service, some converted to homes or businesses, and some abandoned.

Number one is the winner.

Nice choice it does have a certain firebarn look to it.If you don't mind I think I will borrow number two for the town of Bel-Aire on my home layout. :D

Tackled the last major structure for the JCIR: the block of boring storefronts. Looks simple from the front--

Ain't so simple from the back...

Makes for some nice brick canyons through which to snake trains:

Hey wait. Isn't that the second "boring" building there?

Yep. The other one is the corner building. And, before the new "crane and shovel" industry went in, there was a boring building there as well.

I've been following there, I just wanted to know if you had a nice aerial photo with all the buildings in place.

Well, here you go. Since none of the buildings have roofs yet, it's a bit hard to make them out.

BTW, I tweaked the firehouse a bit. I was inspired by this reference photo.

Oh yeah, this is "it". The accentuated round top bothered me on the original and you nailed the best of both choices into a winning #3, as Bob put it.  I had thought that the eye would quickly move from the mundane surroundings and all too quickly focus on the one that stood out from the rest. Nice work as usual.

Fixed.

D'oh! Right.

Well, here you go. Since none of the buildings have roofs yet, it's a bit hard to make them out.

Also fixed.
