Now that I have most of the tweaking out of my system, I finished building the base last night--

How-to is here: http://whiteriverandnorthern.net/chapter_9base.htm

That's looking mighty sexy as it sits... I'm even considering adding a trolly route to my layout-plan since I think an El would be a bit much for me.

One more tiny tweak--out of necessity.

The above tweak allowed me to make this revised version of the Union Crane and Shovel kit:

DKS ? Did you over look this new tiny tweak now eliminates your interchange track in which you had in your orginal trackplan.
Did you consider the interchange track would now come from the other side of your layout ?

This used to be an interchange in the first version of the plan, back when there was a lift bridge in this corner, and a coal trestle in the opposite corner (above). When I eliminated the lift bridge and coal trestle in early June, this became an industrial siding, and the other track became the interchange, which now exits the layout on a bridge (below).

Me too!

One of the easiest ways to get me to do something is to say it can't be done or it won't work.

Mass produced RTR PRR K4s cannot be done.

But seriously, I remember you answered this question some where, but I can't find it. How did you transfer your track plan to the foam? Did you print it out and glue it to the layout and lay roadbed on it?

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

How are you going to treat building 7 that now runs off the layout? Detailed interior or just wall it off with the finished layout edge.

I printed it out 1:1 on letter-size sheets; taped the sheets together; placed tracing paper on the Gatorfoam; positioned the plan over top; then traced the plan with a pen.

How are you going to treat building 7 that now runs off the layout? Detailed interior or just wall it off with the finished layout edge.

I haven't decided yet. One of the two. Although... I am leaning toward the former having found this image:

After all the fantastic building-in-progress shots, I'm surprised to see so many right angles in this plan.  Would love to see this overview of the actual pike-to-date.

I really didn't see a need to make everything irregular; the real JC, after all, has miles of nothing but squares and rectangles, punctuated by a few oddballs.

Would love to see this overview of the actual pike-to-date.

The following structures have not yet been started:

1. gas station
3. firehouse
5. storefronts
8. hamburger joint/bar

Also to come are the transfer crane, water tower, elevated line and a bazillion other details.

Love the wiggle in the siding to get into the latest building.

And I anxiously await the modeling of "Toxic Dump."
