Sadly, the Wabash car is a touch too old for me. But I can't wait for the more modern versions. They should be sweet.

Also, that EL car is a tempting paint-out target.

Ok; I'll bite....what's a "horizontal stiffener.... and where might it be found.....my middle aged eyes can't see much of a difference between the model and the proto photo posted.....

I think this is what Robb refers to:

........um...........I am still confused....can you be more specific..... please......
Model railroading isn't saving my life, but it's providing me moments of joy not normally associated with my current situation..... Train are good!

Their there just a little shallow compared to proto.

I agree - they are shallow, and would appear to be missing, but they are indeed there.  They also appear to be a few inches off from the prototype.

Ok, they look closer to the ones one the GBW 206 picture posted, which still has the roofwalk.
THe DTI car has a listed date of 1989, so it's been in service 25 years.
Having seen cars loaded & unloaded at autoplants in Michigan, I'll hazard to say that the DTI car has either a newer design door, or a replacement door.
Nothing like watching the forklift operator open the door by jabbing a hole through it!  :P

They were still around in the early '90s here im Michigan.
Though they were rusty-crusty as all heck.
Heck, untill the CR breakup, there was all sorts of old stuff rumbling around here.

What am I believing that you aren't?  The picture unittrain linked to shows two shallow horizontal bands across the doors in the approximate places where the prototype stiffeners are.  These bands terminate in prominent rings on the door hardware rods.  But they are there.  I coped to them being shallow . . .

Perhaps a little contrast enhancement will assist the perception of the non-believers...

Here is a proto shot showing that the stifiners aren't all that thick. It is a DTI from the first batch with short wheelbase like the Wabash car shown.

The model could have a little more relief but they are there. It seems later versions had doors with thicker ribbing on them.

All the pictures I've seen have the middle stiffeners the same thickness as the top and bottom stiffeners.  That is clearly not the case on the model.  It won't stop me getting some, 'cause I've been wanting this model for a while.  It will just be an extra step to add it later on.
