Great work guys.

Here's the finale of the mystery shanty scene.  Not the best focus but you get the idea.

I've also been working on the TrainCat chlorine car.  Probably a few weeks before I have something worth showing.

After applying decals to five outfit cars a few weeks ago, my friend Jeff Briggs has applied the weathering and final seal coat, and I now have only to take care of a few minor paint touch-ups and install the trucks:

Hopefully I will be able to post completion photographs next week.  Not far behind them is another set of cars built from recent Briggs Models kits including two ex-CP Minibox cars for outfit service, and NSC double door boxcars for BCR and NAR:

They are just back from Jeff's paint shop and I will be applying decals to the Miniboxes this coming week - still waiting for decals for the NSC cars.

Great work this week everyone. No work from me for about 2 months. Just bought a new house so it is time to plan a new layout.

Here is something I've needed to complete for a while

U36C running for CSX.

Thanks guys.
There are two ways to make a U36C- and I've done both.

In both cases, you start with a Kato U30C.

First option- cut off the radiator roof and the back wall.  Then cut the radiator section roof AND back wall (L shaped part) off a C30-7.  Splice onto U30C.  Advantages- easy.  No splice on back end. Splices are at corners and more natural.  Disadvantage- rear number boards are too modern.

Second option- cut off just the roof section of U30C.  Cut off the wide roof section from a Bachmann U36B.  Sand down that really fat line down the side of the wings.  Splice.  Patch the splice line at the back end.  Requires some skill with putty and sanding.  Advantage- rear number boards more accurate.  Disadvantage- harder.

This loco is the Bachmann version.

Some of ex-ROCK cars wearing new saftey yellow paint got dropped at the elevator today by a GP15. The GP7 that normally does the elevator job is down for repairs again.

U36C:  There used to be a third way:  Buy the N Scale of Nevada conversion body.  That's what I used for my U33Cs, and I suspect it was made using the Bachmann radiators.

I really loved some of the scenery this week.  M.C.'s vineyard is delicate... impressive!  It sure looks like a vineyard to me.
That snow scene of Mark's is superb.

Well, I spent hours and hours shaving, drilling, and making valve gear parts for my SP&S 4-4-2.  Here is the first side.
And yes, it all works smoothly.  Those micro hex rivets really did the trick.  The rest of the parts are a mix
of brass strip filed and drilled by hand, and various scraps left over from my TrainCat etched brass bridge, and
the GMM Steam Loco detail sheet.  I'll be on a business trip for a week, so this will have to sit for a while.
It's pretty grueling work.   It's hard to imagine the old Rivarossi valve gear on it without looking at an old photo.

Have a pleasant week, everyone.

It is, in deed, quite impressive.  And [Model Railroad Hobbyist has more on his excellent work...

Bryan: great scratch!
Love the detail and the various textures over the model.

I finally finished planting Lush Vineyard my Free-moN "Shoo-fly in Sonoma" module:

You are  not quite finished ..... need to add  the rose bushes at the end of each row.   (Sort of like the canary in the coal mine for grape growers)

Not withstanding the lack of rose bushes at the end of the rows that's some awesome vineyard modelling.

I used the radiators from a C30-7:

This one was done with the NSN kit:
