Here is something I've needed to complete for a whileU36C running for CSX.
Thanks guys. There are two ways to make a U36C- and I've done both.In both cases, you start with a Kato U30C.First option- cut off the radiator roof and the back wall. Then cut the radiator section roof AND back wall (L shaped part) off a C30-7. Splice onto U30C. Advantages- easy. No splice on back end. Splices are at corners and more natural. Disadvantage- rear number boards are too modern.Second option- cut off just the roof section of U30C. Cut off the wide roof section from a Bachmann U36B. Sand down that really fat line down the side of the wings. Splice. Patch the splice line at the back end. Requires some skill with putty and sanding. Advantage- rear number boards more accurate. Disadvantage- harder. This loco is the Bachmann version.Ron
U36C: There used to be a third way: Buy the N Scale of Nevada conversion body. That's what I used for my U33Cs, and I suspect it was made using the Bachmann radiators.
Bryan: great scratch!Love the detail and the various textures over the model.I finally finished planting Lush Vineyard my Free-moN "Shoo-fly in Sonoma" module:
