Be advised that I designed the 9000 class siderods in two versions: one (short version) with uniform axle spacing to more easily accommodate the Kato mechanism as-is, the other (long version) with the No. 1 axle spaced an additional 18 scale inches away from the No. 2 axle as found on the prototype. This was done to provide enough working clearance for the center cylinder's piston rod. For those interested, the prototype's No. 1 and No. 2 driver sets both had cranked axles. No. 1 was cranked to allow clearance for the oscillating action of the center piston rod that was actually connected to the No. 2 axle crank. Because the drivers were linked by siderods, the cranks always remained synchronized. Jason believes (as do I) that most modelers will take the easy way out and use the shorter version, but I had enough space to include the closer-to-scale rods for those among us who are really into pain and suffering. There's a bunch of each on the nickel-silver sheet.

Thank you Loren. Youve done all of us a GREAT service in providing these parts to us. I too will have the correct axle spacing for my 9018. I cant represent the locomotive my uncle got blown up on without it!
Thanks again loren and jason.

Good News!!  With the demand for the pipe hangers Loren of GMM has agreed to re-run a limited run in the future.  I think he would like the feed back on which pipe hangers work best.  So, for those of you who will be purchasing the rods, pipe hangers will be included.  Unfortainately, it does not appear that there are enough pipe hangers for those who just want hangers.  But dont worry...... I really want these pipe hangers also.

The four holers can be clipped shorter as desired . Under walkway flat 90 degree would be most useful as I can adapt that to anything .

Thats what I think also.  Loren's Idea on the relief bracket was for the piping that goes back and forth and could not be threaded which I think will be needed also.

The costs my etcher charge me are not the cheapest because they work on an industrial scale. Some of their customers include NASA and other aerospace conglomerates. I happen to get along very well with the owners and we've worked together for almost 20 years now. Small jobs like this one tend to "gum up the works" when they are running hundreds of sheets at a time. Economy of scale works when I can order ten or more 12" by 24" sheets per order, and that brings the cost way down. To do that, I need to be certain I can sell hundreds, maybe thousands of sets over the following year or two to recoup my investment. A small  job shop can work cheaper with less overhead and maybe match the quality of what I'm getting. My etchers will give me a break now and then for my own personal projects, but not often. They have their own bills to pay and working with acids in California is not conducive to an inexpensive regulation-free business climate if you know what I mean.

A long time ago when I first tried to have something etched I was told around $365 for a 12x24 sheet and was told that size was the minimum. Back then I ended up buying the Micro Mark etch kit and doing it myself. It worked OK. When I found out about PPD I stopped even trying to etch at home. I am a real satisfied customer and get nothing to mention them.

By the way I was buying your Gold Metal Models products when I first started in N scale. So however you were able to it done. I thank you!

Please also count me in for pipe hangers or ANY other steam details. Maybe there are more of us out there than you think?

I am curious.

Just what do you get for your dollar. It cannot be the whole sheet? Please confirm?

I am DEFINITELY interested in any type of steam 'detail' parts that you guys have 'up your sleeves' for future runs (The rods, themselves, won't figure into any project I'm considering)...
But...I'm about to order a ATSF 4-8-4 casting from Superturbine, which will be my FIRST foray into N scale steam!), and I'll want to accumulate any ans all detail parts I can muster to really 'trick it out'....
My severely limited knowledge of steam workings and nomenclature may have me a little befuddled at this point (Baker, Worthington, Elesco...and others, sends me, immediately, to the 'google' search engine!), but I'm sure I'll be able to figure it out!
My modelled era, ATSF in 1957, saw the last use of big steam by ATSF in helper service from Belen to Mountainair (up through Abo Canyon)...I've no choice ...I've got to model one of these!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Respectfully,
Bruce

Sorry did not see the post.  The casting is of the engine with raised stack, and 20000 gallon tender for the 3772 class both casting can be used with the gs4 mech ( the mech does require complete disassembly and milling with a drimel tool). Or I can send the long tender but you will need to adapt the Gs4 stock power pick ups to your Bachman tender truck.  Etchings include the running gear ladder, pipe hangers and oil level check stick.  Cost $105 shipped.  Btw. The engine casting is all new and came out really nice.

I was also waiting for the price of the hangers alone but I guess those will not be available separately until they are re-ran sometime in the future (according to Jason).  :(

Peteski-  I will send you enough hangers to to one engine.  I believe by the time you have used them loren will have them rerun.  PM me your address.

Alwyn- if you want to do a pennsy engine many of the etchings will not be useful to you.  Included would be 2-10-2 SIDE RODS, URETHANE CAST FRAME FOR ADDING THE EXTRA DRIVE BOX YOU WILL NEED, CAST BEARING BOX PLATE WITH BRAKE SHOES AND ETCHED PIPE HANGERS COST INCLUDING SHIPPING IS $35.00.  THE COST FOR ADDIOTNAL sets is resuce by $10 per each additional set incuded in order or just $10 per rod set
