I might be a bit picky but to me the sideframe relief seems a bit flat and there isn't enough "air" in between the brake gear.   Looks like a flat slab. These kind of remind me of the too-flat looking sideframes Bachmann tooled up for their latest DDA40X locos.  But it might be just the way the photo was taken.

I was already a bit afraid for this reaction, but for the T1 tender it needs to be relatively flat. Otherwise there is no room for the truck to swivel. Please remember that the side of the tender is overhanging the truck. For the same reason the tender trucks of the brass T1, the I1 or the Q2 look exactly like the white metal version. I can assure you as we compared them to an I1 tender truck from a Key locomotive. And I have never heard anybody mention a problem with the depth of these trucks. :)

Removing the brake rigging is certainly an option. And as I mentioned before, Peter is thinking about a 2nd version with no brake rigging on the mold and brake hangers on a separate  etch. This will give more depth to the truck (would be perfect for me for the Queen Mary).

The brake rigging etchings could be baked into a cone point electrical pickup.  If it were me I'd remove the extra material between the bearing slides anyway to give more depth anyway.

Superturbine, please say you're still going to cast the lead and trailing truck siderframes...  Those will be nearly impossible to simulate (Max knows) and any thing less will pale next to your casting.

those top two don't look quite the same, but that may be a cleaning issue.  Still, nice castings.

1st H-10 castings-
Color adjustment looks a little strange but is to show detail.

Here is how the T1 trucks will look when sent out.  Yes I've had a delay but they should ship out this next week.

Jason,
Those are really nice shells and sideframes.  You've obviously put a lot of work into the masters, and you should be proud of that.

But is that actual coal cast into the tender?

Thanks,
As for the coal in the casting.... its the first casting out of the mold .  All debris is cleaned at with the first casting.  The coal was molded in to reduce the amount of coal needed to be added to each casting and has zero effect on the casting quality, even in the sides of the casting.
