The FA chassis would be great but difficult when adding the wheel between the powered axles. I would consider the DD40 truck over anything as its mostly hidden anyways.

I would like to understand why you think this, is it because of the FA side frames?  I am planning on removing them unless they are integral to the drive truck...

Nice Victor, I lucked out with two new Bachmann northerns and a heavy mountain for $128 on the bay and have an FA2 on its way...

I guess i didnt see the dummy axle part but fashioning another axle outside the frames plus the dummy might take a bit of tweaking on such a long truck vs. the premade DD40 truck. Sometimes its easier to fudge a little on something that will be mostly hidden by the tender sides anyways.

Draskoasshat, I was only worried that the fa2 truck would cause an issue and that you knew something I did not.  I was not offended by your comment in the least!

I'll bite too, what chassis did your drive start from, did you cut any of the chassis?

The main reason I like the fa2 is because its mass will hopefully fill that tender.  I personally can't wait to see all the creative ways people will try this.  It's like a grand experiment!  I'm actually still thinking of powering the drivers in addition to the tender...

Looks to me like an Atlas (China) RS1 that has been cut and another spliced to it to stretch it and make it longer.

The trucks are RSD trimount that have been kitbashed and another axle added to make it four.

I like it.

To me those trucks look more like Kato GS-4 tender trucks (or IM AC-12).  Obviously the wheel sets would have to been modified with geared axles.

It's a santa fe tender truck installed over the 3 axel powered truck of an RS1..... If my memory is correct.

The only modification to the mesh is cutting some of it off. I need to get an article together for Craig Barrow on it so ill go into detail later. The powered trucks are cut down with 3 driven axles per truck and all pick up power.

Lets make this thread about sharing ideas on how to build a T1....  Thanks for sharing Adam, I am sure Craig will still accept an article on the tender power you have done.  You just need to write it up!! :D
