That's beautiful. I have no need or desire for one, but I really respect such sharp work.

I am amazed! I don't have a need, but I definitely would desire one... I've always had an attraction to sharknose locos.

It sounded like a good idea at the time... too bad the caboose wasn't in on the plan.

For the decals, try Fine N Scale FNR-2600 Pennsy Passenger Car Decals.  It includes the stripes too!

The "Pennsylvania" is a little short, but if you are determined, you can cut the letters apart and spread them.
(I did not opt to do this!)

The idea of an army of T1s is staggering  :) Especially since few if any have ever been available in N scale.

$100 may be outside my budget  I'm investing heavily in flex track for the current layout.

I have tried the CDS dry transfers (they have a special T1 set), but I couldn't get them to work. Do any of you have experience with them?

AH, thanks for the link !
I may go this route this time.
Heres what my T1 did look like until I just restripped it for a repaint to match the Brunswick Green on my S1.
The origional Brunswick Green I mixed was matched to a GG1, the S1 has a better shade as well as I want both to match.
Also on the S1 the lettering is a bit shorter than what I used on my T1.
I believe that decal sheet you posted would look better.

I would agree that this might be the one thing that would cause me to hesitate. Although I still think I would be willing to make a commitment, I would be even more willing if the price were slightly lower.

I compared my sheet of 60-66 with the picture on their website, and I think the HO version is different. There are only 2 lengths of "PENNSYLVANIA" on the sheet, one is ~15ft, the other ~35ft. It looks like there are 4 different lengths on the HO version. Does anyone know the correct length?

For what it's worth, I don't think people should be put off by a $100 price on the shell (and no, I'm not getting some sort of
"kick back" for saying that!  ha ha)

When you factor in the cost of the engine mechanisms you will have to dig up, 8-wheel tender trucks,
possibly new motor(s), or a tender power drive from N-Stars, and the great deal of time it is going to
take you to build this thing, $100 is nothing.

Believe me, I am NOT trying to discourage anybody from doing this.  I think it is beautiful that this shell exists and that
people are going to build some T1's.  I'm just saying, this is a major project.  That $100 shell is not the limiting factor.

Agreed Max, and for those thinking that a Bachmann DD40ax will work inside the tender, think again.  Many thanks to pnolan48 as he measured the wheel spacing on the DD40ax to be 65" (specs state 68.5 on wiki) and the T1's axles are spaced at 55".  Hard to stretch a sideframe casting 10" between each axle.  I'm no rivet counter but even that's too much for me.  The wheel diameters are 47.5" on the DD40ax and the T1's tender wheels are only 36.  I could probably live with that but the axle spacing presents a proportional issue, not to mention how to shorten the mech to a 303" bolster to bolster dimension.

Sooo, I'm thinking a two axle mech closer to the T1 bolster dimension and smaller axle centers.  Below is a composite overlay of the T1 tender diagram and the PRR FA2 diagram:

If the LL FA2 scales anything like the drawing above, it may be a great candidate after removing the fuel tank and any metal there and gluing on the T1 sideframes. Wheels will be scale 4" oversize if LL made them like the diagram above.  Hopefully there will be room inside the tender shell to fit this:

Spookshow gives the later version of the LL FA2 an A grade and states "exceptional pulling power".  No rating for DCC...

(from the spookshow website)

I think I just talked myself into a plan..  Heck the LED may even come in handy for the backup light!

Anyone know if the sideframes on the LL FA2 are separate or do the wheels pilot on them?

Now for the boiler chassis...

The FA chassis would be great but difficult when adding the wheel between the powered axles. I would consider the DD40 truck over anything as its mostly hidden anyways.
