Athear SP caboose coupler question

well, last night, I had a coupler in my Athearn Southern Pacific bay window caboose fail. Has anyone tried swapping in a Micro-Trains 903/905 Z/Nn3 coupler?

I'd be satisfied to find out which Micro-Trains N scale coupler fits the Athearn caboose.

I'm in the New Orleans area today and tomorrow. Dee stayed home in St. Joseph, La., so she's probably stuffing herself with termites as I type.
Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

Could be termite jambalaya...

Well when one of you gets the coupler question sorted, I'll be interested in the answer as well.

There isn't one, as there is no pocket in the Athearn coupler box and lid for the MTL centering pins.  You can swap in Accu-Mates if the McHenry couplers are not performing to your liking.

One option, is complete remove the McHenry box, and then body mount an MT in its place

That's what I didn't know. I'm trying to decide if I should get some SP bay windows. Since I have lots of Accumate couplers lying around, I'll go that route.

they look great. They are better than the MT ones.
