Built a simple track cleaning car that will be part of a non-stop coal drag that runs staging to staging
Started with an Atlas hopper….

Got away from the paper mill for awhile, pained a few locos, finished the track cleaning car, painted all those hoppers. Just getting back to the mill....some grown cover near the yard. I got side tracked because I can't find 0.020 dia brass. I need it for a handrail atop a silo.

You have done a nice job capturing the time and place you are modelling.  Do you have any plans to add any details to the city block scene (last shot)?  It kind of begs for a few people, telephone poles, mail boxes, etc.  But again, really nice work.

I think I've said it before, but I really dig your layout. It reminds me of a combination of the guy who runs Rix's, which I always liked, and the Eastern Kentucky route in Trainz, which I've played a lot.

I was looking over your postings again because I was curious about the track, roadbed, and sub roadbed.  Am I seeing correctly that you have maybe 3/4" plywood cut for your track to rest on?  And is that on a solid base surface, such as plywood?  It appears you fit the pink foam around the tracks after the fact, do you find this is easier or an advantage to having just put the track on a solid foam surface and carving the foam in place? 

I am asking because I have two creeks and several drainage ditches running along or under my track.  I will need at most about 1 1/2" depth below track level, mostly only 1" or less.  So I am debating between laying 1 1/2" foam over the entire benchwork and carving or putting the track on ply with risers below and cutting foam in to fit. 

I think I've mentioned before, but worth repeating, your layout is a very nice work of art.  Love the two industrial scenes.
