How do I fix this ?

This car hit the deck, to state the obvious.... Any thoughts on how I can repair it?   




The roof walk I can handle, but I need some help on the bent end and broken railings.   My first thought was to bring a soldering iron near them to soften the plastic and then try to reshape it


All suggestions and comments appreciated.

Leave it as is , surround it with RR workers , and a photographer as a scene adjacent to your car shop .

Why the hell fix what is now looking far more prototypical than before.... paint some Quebecqois anti English slogans on it and maybe a gang symbol or two and it will be dang near perfect..... :D

I have a picture of one like that in the Edmonton yard from a derailment.  Seemed to still be in service.

If you want a clean, new car, your solution will probably work. But I gotta agree with everyone else, throw swome graf, rust and dirt onr it ande let it roll.

I "gots" one of dem......(ok, it's an Atlas PS2 and a CGW paint job but you get the idea...)

Soldering iron is a bit too hot (and the heat is too concentrated). You'll end up with a real mess!  I would suggest a hair dryer set on the highest heat setting. That will warm up all the bent parts at the same time so you can try to straighten them.   I never ran into this type of damage - I'm strictly theorizing.

Try soaking it in warm to hot water.
Must admit though, weather it and let it go.  ;)

Good suggestions all....

I would really like to restore this to a new car look, But

Weather it and run it is looking like a good option  ...

Static display is a great idea too, but I don't have the space to do it justice,

I was born in Montreal, Westmount actually,  (yes I have lived  in southern California most of my life) .. but it is, after all,  my "home and native land"  so I really don't want to bash the Province.

Oh yea,  ... call Intermountain... 


I am leaning towards  the hair dryer and small needle nose pliers approach , at least for a first attempt.

Thanks all...

Please keep the ideas coming .. this is not going to be fixed quickly, so please chime in any time you have an idea.  I will post pictures of the finish product eventually.
