Crazy question about a crazy prototype.

I know that Athearn did a model of this evans plug door boxcar in HO but didn't micro Trains also do one in N scale?
Maybe within the last year or so?

Barry

MT did the Model Railroader one,

FVM did the Sargento as well as the MR and Breast Cancer cars on the Atlas Evans 53'

It was Fox Valley who did the special run, on Atlas boxcars. I've got one in my stash someplace.

Ian beat me too it.

The FVM cars are the prototypical models.

Thanks, for the quick responses.

The company I work for recently aquired the WSOR and to mark the purchase I bought a FVM,  Milw. Rd. caboose to go with a Kato Mikado painted up for the Soo Line as the 1009. Now I am searching for the WSOR, Sargento car to go with them.

I am sure they have all vanished but I'll keep my eyes open for one in my travels.

Thanks,

Barry

Not a crazy question at all. Here is the N scale FVM special run using the Atlas Evans car. I modified it to what it looks like today. There was a copyright? issue and all references to "Sargento Cheese" were removed.

Wasn't a copyright issue, had something to do with some ruling about "advertising" on railcars.

Yep. Railroads can't paint general service cars with logos and colours of shippers.

For the "why?" of the rule, imagine if you will that Mickey's Cheese is also a customer of WSOR. They request a boxcar for loading, and the one that's available is the one with Sargento Cheese's (their competitors) logo. If you were Mickey, would you be impressed to be loading your product into a vehicle advertising your competition?

Barry,
Checked our stock today. No luck. We have all the other WSOR specialty cars (Model Railroader 70yr, 75yr, Athearn 60yr, and Breast Cancer) but the Sargento car is long gone.

So, knowing the rule, does anyone know why WSOR went ahead and did it anyway?
