What is a DCC ready tender in n-scale?

I could not find a discussion or definition for these terms in this forum.
I understand it to mean that the steam locomotive tender is set up for ready installation of a DCC decoder.
The decoder is not installed; it must be purchased separately.

I see the term used in the description of some Bachmann tenders, but not all of their tenders.

Just when I thought I understood this term, I read in this forum that Bachmann has released 4-8-2 light mountain with a DCC ready tender.  I think the comment said the locomotive comes with a DCC harness installed and wires running to the tender which has no decoder.

 Am I understanding that comment correctly?   If yes, how to the ads describe that locomotive?

Right, the new light 4-8-2 tender is "DCC Ready" insofar as it is designed to accept a decoder. Numbered contacts on the board indicate where to solder the decoder wires. It's pretty much the same system they use in their DCC Ready diesels -

That sounds about right. The locomotive/tender has no DCC decoder, but it's designed to have one dropped in. Plug and play. That's exactly what "DCC ready" means.

Is the wire harness to the locomotive already connected?

Yep, just like you see in the above picture.
