Love that GP-9.  Such a classy colour scheme.  I will likely bump in to you at the Edmonton show... and possibly Red Deer.  The CRS20s should hopefully be all finished, painted, decalled and weathered in time for the next Calgary RPM in the spring.

Lots of good stuff this week.....I really like both of the centerbeam cars....and the farm gate...... 8)

My contribution this week is a pair of factory decorated cars that I weathered.......

First is this B&M Evans boxcar, hauling some Anheuser-Busch beer to college campuses around the country......



Next is this Exactrail car on which I erased the small lettering with Solvaset and a toothpick, added decals to closer match the proto, and then weathered to match this pic...

What a coincidence. I just won the same B&M boxcar on eBay this past week, hoping it had a built date in 1971 at the latest. Nope... it had Z1 76, so something was done in 1976, it appears. Is there any possibility this car was around in 1971? Anybody?

Im going to go out here and say that you should be safe with them around in the early 70s. I cant seem to pin point an exact build date however.

I went to Mark's (Spookshow's) site and found this type of car dates to 1969. I just need to know if the Boston & Maine had cars painted like that in 1971 (I know, wishful thinking).

In my books I am seeing photos of them as far back as 1973 and they do not look clean. So I would say its ok to say they were in B&M paint in the very early 70s. I am still looking however.

Hello Mike:

Your Alberta Pool elevator is not too different from the cardstock model I have standing at Dawson Creek, which has the second annex.

Can you tell us how close the GP9 model will be detail wise to the NAR GP9s in terms of fans, grills, etc.?


Andy:

The CRS-20s are coming along nicely.  The Kaslo pilots will make a big difference.  Perhaps next April we should arrange for our two 607s to meet . . .  :)

Do you have your DCC system up and running yet?

The prototype has riveted sides, the model has welded sides, and the model appears to have more panels on the sides.............. :(
