Nice GHQ L1s! 
Assembly, pipes, joints... everything is really neat and straight. 
Perhaps weather it just a little to get things to stand out a little more?  Even light brushing
of highlights with some blacks and whites would do a lot.

That is a nice job.

I know you are right, Max.  I just can't bring myself to do it.  Maybe when it gets a little older.

Thanks.  The piping is .010 phosphor bronze, from Tichy Trains.  It's a lot more "springy" than brass.

Cody,  Do you mean that square thingy that connects the horizontal grab rail on the boiler with the vertical rail on the smoke box?  It's a piece of .040 styrene, drilled thru in the vertical direction and then drilled at 90 degrees for the boiler rail.

Hopping in on this Thread - proposed 'bash off 2 Bachmann candidates into an Illinois Central 2500 class 4-8-2.

Have all the items in hand, as well as an unpainted HO scale Hallmark 4-8-2 as a guide.

Will update with photos accordingly as the build progresses.

Cody, here's how I made the junction boxes.

Step 1.  Take a deep breath, and try to channel Max.
2. Make a short stick of .040 by 050 styrene, and square up the sides and one end.
3. Drill a hole from side to side with a No 80 drill, about .025 from the end.  Don't worry if the hole is a little more than .025 from the end.                             It took me 2 or 3 tries to get this right.
4. File some material off the end, if the hole is more than .025 from the end.
5. Drill another hole in the end,  until it intersects the first hole.
6. Cut the almost-finished block off the stick.  I cut it a little long, and trimmed it to length by eye with a razor blade.  It helped to put the drill bit thru the hole while trimming the block, to hold it down on the cutting mat.
7. I rounded the corners a little with a new No 11 blade, after the boxes were installed.

That was pretty much what I did
Though I should have cut them out longer and then drilled the holes and after that cut it back to size

I doubt I'll ever build another L1 though :/
