That "A" has to be seen to be believed.  This is the most impressive piece of steam I have seen;  brass or otherwise.  The rods are not etched.  Gregg hand filed the J rods to the correct contour.  :o

Hand filed the rods... HA!  Someone as loony as me.
Are there any larger photographs of this engine around?  It looks spectacular, and I feel like I can't see large enough photos to really appreciate it.

Andrew:
Am I correct in assuming this is the work of "THE" Gregg Scott; founder/owner of "GHQ"?

I'm sure there are larger pictures coming.  Michael was at Gregg's the other day and snapped these pictures with his cell phone.

Any update on these larger pics coming of Greg's incredible A?  I'm very interesting in the modifications he made to the J Class running gear to make it not look so J class.  Thats an awesome mechanism and this is getting me thinking what else it could pass for now...

There are some great looking engines in this topic! I'm inspired to try to post pictures of mine. I apologize for my lack of modeling/photography skills, but here we go.

First, the Hallmark brass:

Next, the Key Imports brass:

And the last of the brass are these two from Pecos River Brass:

The Hudson above is the survivor of a Dremel tool attack gone wrong during a decoder installation. The damage was all cosmetic, but that is what happened to his factory finish.

Next up a Minitrix Orient Express:

And the Spectrum Consolidations:

And finally a Spectrum Heavy Mountain and a pair of Santa Fe's:

I've been reading up on weathering steam and hopefully will have the confidence to try one soon.  From what I've seen here weathering makes a huge difference in the appearance.

Is it just me or are the photos missing from the above posts???

I have a question. It would save me the time going back in this and other threads... Is there, or will there be a quality Berkshire in N scale?

Nope, it's not just you.  Looks like my hosting didn't like my linking to the images.  I'll have to re-host then re-post.

If by Quality you mean one that will actally pull decent length trains, then no.

All the old MRC/Atlas/Rivarossi ones are hit and miss (depends if ya get a good one or not).  The LifeLike/Walthers onec an barel pull it's own weight (i am being a little tounge in cheak, but not by much), and the Key's are like all brass (finicky with shorting issues occasionally). I admit steam can be finicky, and yes, clean wheels, clean track, and good pickup always helps...however i am spoiled by the Kato Mikes and the GS4's.

It is possible to Pimp Your Berk (just ask Tim aka Sizemore) with favorable results.
