stopped by superturbine's house this weekend, had a boiler explosion steam engines everywhere!!!!!! a row of FEF 1 at Cheyenne coaling tower Ogden stationCheyenne roundhouseOgden roundhouse...N Joy Gordon :)

Hahaha!  I particularly like the big UP steam up on the roundhouse roofs!!  :)  That's what whisker tracks are for...displaying engines, but the Cheyenne roundhouse didn't have room for whisker tracks.  Additionally, a problem with the Walthers Modern Roundhouse for UP modelers is that it's too close to the turntable edge to park engines out in the open, unlike the prototype Ogden and Cheyenne roundhouses, as well as the Green River, Laramie and Evanston roundhouses.  That's why all fifteen stalls of my Walthers roundhouse are still in boxes on the shelf...I'm gonna scratch my own Ogden roundhouse since I've got hundreds of local Utah UP fans that would skin me alive if I didn't get it just about perfect!...and, I want my Big Boys, Challengers, FEF's, UP-ized Light Mikes and Consolidations to be seen at least part way out of my roundhouse doors...not on the roof!

However, it is always impressive to see some of Jason's steam engine roster...even if they're off the tracks.  :)

Thanks for posting. Jason's locomotives usually get most of the attention, but its nice to get to see pics of his detail filled layout.

Yay!  I want to hear more about the gear reduction!  Do you have photos or a description of this?
Is it a coreless with a gearhead or something else?

That thing runs great!

I would also agree with this, but still under the K4.  :D Have you made any progress on your design for one?

Nothing posted to this unique thread for 8 months. When I took on my bash project, this thread was a real driving force to complete the project. I can finally make a contribution, so here it is..............

One more, please.....................................

How about a $150 key santa fe northern?
Yes you read that number correctly! It was a gamble but I had the right screw for the side rods to fix it and had to make a shoulder for thescrew that the side rods float on . Overall I'm happy with it! [ Guests cannot view attachments ]

I think you paid too much, you should have let the auction go to completion instead of jumping the gun and back dooring it.

Is that so? You can think I paid too much all you like. I would have taken it to that number anyways so I guess I would have outbid you. Otherwise it is back together and running! And to be honest with you, it was a tough gamble and took some engineering to get things right.

When I saw it, I thought that it would probably not go for more than middle 80's. There was no telling what damage had occurred and how it had happened, and the description gave no insight. I am pleased for you that it has worked out and your gamble paid off. I was offering no competition on that one, I did not want a second one. I got mine for $250 in mint condition about 18 months ago.
