That is one good lookin MT.... Expensive engine to weather!! :scared:

Here is a pic of the ATSF 3800 class 2-10-2 I have built.  The casting has since been re-worked with increased boilet diameter.  My delay is casting a brass 2-10-2 frame to accept kato mike parts.  I have added the driver to the front to allow the casting to properly fit the mech.

Where there's smoke there's steam.

Doug,

THis is an absolutely gorgeous engine, and a great photo.  This is everything to love about Pennsy steam, and you nailed it.  Congratulations on joining the N scale K4 club.  I like yours better than my PSC brass.

Three of my five Pennsy steamers. These are the ones I kitbashed.  H10sb 2-8-0, L1s 2-8-2, and an M1 4-8-2.

Straight-from-the-box Walthers/P2K PRR HH1 2-8-8-2 with sound.

Standard GHQ conversion on a Kato 2-8-2.

Brass PSC K4s with DCC and extensive work by Victor Miranda and Lee Weldon.

My kitbashed M1 4-8-2.  Got tired of waiting for PCM.  She's currently inoperable, awaiting swap-out with a heavy 4-8-2 chassis and a new rear truck.

SuperTurbine, thx for posting those pics of Gordon Bliss' steamers.   Superb.

To keep the momentum going, here's some N scale steamers from 8 years ago at Chantilly 2004 NTrack/NScale Convention, by GHQ's Greg Scott,
these are all scratchbuilt.

Check out the clamshell smokestack deflectors on this SP 2-10-2:

And there was a whole lineup of these scratchbuilt steamers at the clinic that Greg gave:

That's Greg on the right:

Thanks Dave.  And it runs beautifully also.  I will be running it at the Bedford PA N Scale Weekend next week.

@LV LOU et. al., I am in the same situation of having to dis-assembly the basis of a dream layout when we retired in 2005 and moved to a different state.  I moved all the bench work, but reluctantly gave most of it away because of lack of space in this house.  :?
Roger,I actually moved the entire layout to the new place, but once I got it there,I decided to start again from scratch. The room it was in was wierd, there was a closet on one end of the room, but a big enough space on the side of the closet that I didn't want to waste,so the whole 12 foot long main section of the benchwork had all the tracks going at an angle to a small section with a few hidden loops. It was cool in that room, but at the new, large square room,it just limited any potential expansion.Real shame,it was a really nice RR.

I live a few miles from Steamtown,so I get away with running a lot of steam today.Nice having a Big Boy five miles away,LOL!!..I have most of the locomotives that run/ran there..Here's Reading & Northern "Four & A Quarter"..Until it was taken off the rails for repairs, this locomotive ran 200 feet from my house several times a year.
