For this reason I always install a separate decoder for motor control in the engine itself.  The TSU 750 is always only used for sound.  This setup also prevent expensive damage to a sound decoder.

Never even knew you could do that. Thanks for sharing the info.

I do the same thing - Lenz silver mini in the boiler somewhere for motor control, and TSU750 in the tender.  I give the TSU the engine number as an address, and the Lenz gets the engine number +1000 (e.g., engine 779:  TSU is 779, Lenz is 1779).  Program them how I want using ops mode (on the main), consist them, and that's that.   I find that using a separate motor decoder also makes it easier to match the driver revolution to the chuffs (4 per revolution on simple twin-cylinder engines).  If I need to, I can program a speed table in the Lenz to get a precise match.

Here's a YouTube video with an example:

Challemger's on Nate Goodman's layout. The first photo shows them faced politically correct into the roundhouse's.Now I need to leingthen the stalls. Ramaining shots show all of them. Can you tell which ones are Brass 6,which ones are Athearn three, and which ones are Rivarossi Con Cor. There is one custom GN Challenger made from a Rivarossi . Nate Goodman (Nato).

Hell Yeah Nato!!!!  Love it!   Way to keep the steam tread alive.  Great assortment of challengers.  Orential limited's challengers are the nicest detail wise.

:|   Oriental Limited Challengers are certainly the nicest detail wise, but myself and Bob Gilmore had to really go over them to get them to run, all kinds of shorts, some caused by detail parts.Nate Goodman (Nato).

Mark, that's just beautiful! You're not thinking of backdating the railroad, are you? Or maybe bouncing between eras? Love it!

Nope.  I just own three consolidateds and a handful of passenger cars so I like to recreate scenes from the golden era of the Southern BC Mainline to the coast ever once in a while!

thank you for the kind words.
