Anyone know the build date/era for the KCS coil cars?

Hmm... last century...?

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

Unfortunately, the Atlas coil car is too new for me, but I'm happy for you guys that want it.  I know this is a model that has been long sought after.

Not sure of the exact build/paint dates, but the new scheme on these cars started appearing very late in '06

Excellent!  This means two of my longest standing pre-orders will be fulfilled in the same month (the other being the Kato TTX Maxi-I). Thank you Atlas!  But I still wish it had been this car, or this car....

Now will you folks stop whining?

Apparently not.   :)

Rats! Built in 2007. I can hardly believe it.

Anyway, thanks for the link.

This is one of the cars that makes me want to run modern stuff once in awhile.  I have two Amtrak trains and a Metra for fun stuff (my time frame is 1953ish to 1967ish) to run with the boys, but those are easy to contain.  A whole freight train is another issue all together!

You realize that one is not remotely the same prototype, right?  ;)
