we used two methods to make fields for the BANTRAK raffle layout this year...  1 was the previously mentioned corduroy, the other was using indoor / outdoor carpet.

same method.. different starting materials...
paint/flock/pull with comb for "rows", let dry detail.

it was fun to see the different results.

Since I'm modeling mid October, I think a corn maze (or maize maze, ahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahagag) is in order. I've got a bunch of Busch pumpkins I've been hoarding to add to the scene.

But mention his law

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Hmm... I saw it was a
steam loco right away,
but Kiz is still trying to
see it...

The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.

techniques to sugar cain, which is actually a faily large crop in south Louisiana.
Probably little or not relevance to you now but the Aussie HO and above modellers use cheap wicker/straw brooms to make sugar cane, usually with cut paper or foam over the ends at the leaf crowns and if you get the cheap nylon brooms the have  this "fluffy" teasing of the fibers at the floor and anyway which looks like a leaf stucture to me, just paint, plant and cut to desired size.

PLLEEEAAAASSSSSEEEEEE!!!!
We need Gravity Boxes to put the harvest in!
The Combine don't run to the bin with every  load
(Trust me, been there, done that!)

Except I want to model empty ones next to the oat field waiting to be filled.
Got a combine and some sort of green (gahk!) tractor, just need the empty's.

Kinda perturbed with the old man, he sold off the A/C 185 before I could get photo's and measurements of it.
That was always my favorite go-to tractor growing up.

He's kidding guys. Right David?

It's almost perfect for the visually impaired...

I concur.  This is an etched product begging to be made.

I concur.
I sent my working drawings to Traincat a couple years ago, but never got a response or too my follow up emails.
Keep hoping he'll see this and respond.
(Also had my AA caboose cupola).

It could easily be made using laser-cut acrylic to make a master for a cast resin model, but my plate is a bit full at the moment. Etched brass is certainly an option, but I think a more costly one.
