I would have had a lot of trouble without their help. There was simply not much room in the aisles, so I stayed outside the layout room and served as greeter. I missed a lot of the discussion, but such is my lot playing host.

Now that it is all over and the layout is all "cleaned" and pretty, I don't want to restart any scenery. I'll just clutter the thing up!

I'm not real happy with the upper level's facia. I had trouble smoothing the covering in some spots. It really goes against the conventional smooth facia school. I realize thats the idea however; one is not supposed to "see" the facia that way. It would work well an an iron mining layout though eh? Well, maybe, I'll re-do it someday. But it works for now I 'spose.

Sorry to contribute to thread drift, but it's simply middle-age spread. It's not just model railroaders. It's the demographic - (U.S.) men over 50. You just don't notice the weight issue with this age group out in the general public, but you frequently do when there are social gatherings based on "affinity" interests where there are concentrations of, yes, men over 50. It just as equally applies to, say, Harley-Davidson clubs or ham radio operators. A svelte 55-year-old is either genetically blessed or far, far more disciplined than Joe Sixpack ever thought about being.

I was unable to escape this, as well, and am mightily frustrated by it.

Fat or skinny, they were all very nice. I'm glad they were there and it was my pleasure to have them visit. I hope they will return someday. They are all welcome.

Not much got done this week after the NMRA convention. The pressure is now off. I did manage to add signs to the crossing at Medina Junction.

For those of you that do not know (including me!): Medina is the former crossing of  the Soo mainline and a Milwaukee (No, its C&NW - see below) branchline. It is also the site of a Soo Line coal dock. The Milwaukee (wrong again watson) branch is now a bike trail. Those of you who are into rail archaeology find places like this facinating. I had to include it.

Slight correction: Medina was a crossing with a C&NW branchline.  The closest the Milw came to the area was Oshkosh (via Horicon) or Neenah/Menasha (from Hilbert Jct).

I thought that picture of all the guys walking up the driveway was funny too, but in a creepy way. Look at the guy on the left taking a picture of the outside of the house. That in itself is creepy to me

Sorry no postings for a while. I've been taking a bit of a mental health break recently.


Here is a picture from the Anton siding area. I plan to add a lot more tree cover here. Its way too bare for my tastes. I also think the pines are too "pretty". They need some thinning of the branches, but thats just me again.








Another picture of "north Neenah". Egads! So much work to be done in this area! My excuse is: "I was just trying to get the pink foam covered before the show." Nothing reveals the defects like an up close picture...

The layout is looking great and as others have said it really captures the feel of Wisconsin I'm modelling the WC here in the UK and wish I had the space to capture the scenery as you have, but my penchant for paper mills has eaten into my real estate big time!

Keep up the good work, I shall follow your progress with great interest, especially when you get to Stevens Point.

I imagine you are aware of the WC2scale group http://wc2scale.org/index.php it is a great resource for all things WC.
