Think for a minute if we lost all that tooling. The loss of Atlas engines alone would single-handedly doom N scale. It would put us on the same level as S with few suppliers making motive power, and only a notch above TT.So I could be wrong, but I think we came, very VERY close to loosing it all in the 2009-2010 timeframe.
Bryan, don't you think Sanda-Kan would have stayed independent if the economy wasn't so bad.?
UK manufacturer Dapol doesn't seemed phased by the recession. Here is a preview of their catalogue of releases for the next 18 months - which doesn't include everything on its way.http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/59092-dapol-20123-new-catalogue-announcements/Note they will be bringing out a 2-8-0, an 0-6-0PT, a 4-4-0 and 2 x 4-6-2 all new tooling steam outline models during this period plus 3 new diesel prototypes. All 1:148 as opposed to 1:160 though.
.....I might end up wanting to sell some US stock to buy one if they do! -Cody F.
As far as I can determine simply as a modeller of n-scale railroading for 35 years, the number of manufacturers and choices has never been as good as it is presently.
