The PRR cars in the left row would be limited to the 1970s of later by the consolidated stencils.

Yes, they are post-Pennsy cars that never were repainted.  We also will have upcoming examples of cars that retained their roofwalks well into the 1980s.  There also will be additional Pennsy cars from the Pennsy era.

So Bryan, will there be at least one humongous can opener so I can have at least one pre-1980 "pure Conrail" job as well?

There will be an oversized-herald car in Release 3, but it has a 1986 service date that you will have to change.  The next series of CR releases for the most part consists of paint-outs and re-stencils.  Now that the "standard" schemes are established with Release 2, there will be lots of interesting schemes appearing starting with Release 3

Hummm, still no SP  :(

True.  But there will be surprises nonetheless.  ;)

Bryan, I fear for your safety on this board if you release something that had a home this side of the Rockies :D

Well, I might not be visiting the other side of the Rockies in the foreseeable future ... but I will be crossing the Mississippi sometime next year.  8)

Hmm...  You know, I fear when all is said and done I will have a disproportionately large percentage of my cars as X58s...   :face palm:

So far I have one.  But that will change.  I am in for a PC and possibly one of the late PRR cars this go-around, and will probably be slammed by run 3 with all of those patch jobs.  The best one I've seen is this:  http://www.railyardmodels.com/images/350_PC_164279.jpg  However, the holy grail would be if CR had stenciled over the PC reporting marks but left the worms on the green keystone patch.

EDIT:  Looking at CRHS' extensive X58 galleries and seeing the paint-outs and patch-jobs, and I keep envisioning this guy:

I think we need this as an emoticon.

And slugs.

Yep, you're in trouble.  8)

That PC keystone patch scheme is in Release 3.  You've got some time on the CR patch of the PC keystone patch scheme.  But the three ex-PRR cars in Release 3 have ACI plates and PC-era patches even though they have PRR reporting marks.  You probably will seriously contemplate buying six of the nine cars in the group, or agonize which of them to get.  And it will get more difficult as the releases progress.

Not to mention the added wild-card of the next model, which will be announced in Dec/Jan, to further complicate your decisions.

Might be time to think about adding a third door to the Juniata Division. :)

FYI - the Pennsy car at the bottom of the center column is a charity car, with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.  There will be slight differences with the features of this car to make it stand out from standard X58 models, but it still will have a prototypical appearance.  The reporting marks and railroad classification are legitimate, as are all the railroad-related markings.  The production run of the charity car will be less than those of the stock items, and it will cost a dollar more, but it will be available through normal sales channels.  If this experiment is successful, we will be producing additional charity-based items in the future.

Now I'm glad I decided to stop at the PC era and not go into Conrail.  Saves me a ton of money.

Bryan, my wife is mad at you now!   :scared:

Dec/Jan car body...  Hmm...  If it is what I think it may be, then yes, I am screwed.

Imagine a Juniata Division where the only cars on trains are X58s and XiHs with the third mystery car and nothing else...  'cause that's where you're driving me!

X72? I could go for some upgraded versions (I think I have painted 12 of the LL cars).

Not confirming or denying, but that's not a bad guess.  Only four roads though with few alternate paint schemes.

But don't forget that Conrail alone gets you 6 different schemes....
