I stumbled across a listing for an Andkon AK-205 PRR H-30 covered hopper on the auction site.  I have not heard of this model or manufacturer.  Is this a new kit or has it been around for a while?  Does anyone know anything about this model - quality of casting, level of detail, ease of assembly, photos of assembled kit, etc...?

Thanks,
Scott

And-Kon was the first name of the company, which later became Camden & Amboy.

The currently-available TrainCat brass kits of the H30 and H30a are far more accurate to the prototype.

Mark  & Brian,

Thanks for the info.  I didn't know that AndKon became Camden & Amboy (haven't seen that name in a while).  The photo of the completed car and comments were informative.  I'll skip this and consider the TrainCat kit instead.  I've seen the TrainCat kit and the detail is excellent.  I was considering the AndKon kit as starter kit for practice, but considering the potential of the finished product, it probably isn't worth the effort when there is a much better option.

I keep looking at that Traincat H-30.  I have two of the kits, but it just looks to me that the ends, which are slightly narrower than the main carbody, are a little too narrow.  If anyone has a link to plans it might be easier to make a determination.

The ends are narrower on the real thing. I have drawings somewhere.
