Coffee shop is sandwiched between a tattoo parlor owned by the coffee shop operator, and a civil engineering firm. The tattoo store escapes the genre's image and is a pretty classy place. When he "announced" he and his wife were doing the coffee shop, I knew immediately it was going to be a first-class operation. They're really nice folks, too.

Wow, it looks amazing.  I don't think you have shown us a lot of the big picture shots like that- it is easy to lose sight of how large and beautiful your space is.

Thanks, Scott! I look at the space these days and can only think, "I gotta clean up this mess. And maybe finish a few construction projects." 

With luck that will come in a couple of months. The post-college kid is probably going to be home for the summer while he continues to job hunt. We can finish remodeling the guest house he lives in, and then get a handful of to-dos done around the studio that work better with four hands. That will consume a fair bit of the materials piled-up in the layout space.

Like Scott said, it's really great to see the whole space: it's gleaming!  I love how the studio and layout space are connected, and the workmanship is thoroughly professional from top to bottom.  If Robyn ever tires of the studio (which appears unlikely) you can have a hobby shop in there that people would travel miles to visit.

No comments about the GG-1 in a few of the pictures?   It was the Bachmann version, and I had it to fix the coupler-lift problem for Glenn. Good thing he and Fred made the trip so quickly after I fixed it - aside from the "it's hardly UP or anything close to it" angle, to me it was a crime against nature to run it sans catenary. Another week or two I would have been reflexively compelled to start stringing wire.

However, UP actually did erect a catenary test section somewhere in the middle of nowhere to evaluate weather impacts, and believe it or not, how it would affect radio communications. Utah or Colorado, IIRC. So I wouldn't have been too far away from rationalizing it versus 1:1.

Can you imagine GM6Cs and GM10Bs in UP paint? Given their history of weird power plus the love affair with EMD in the '70s, it's not a stretch at all.
