I've been informed that those ACR cars were just passing through at the MTM and are now off in Iowa someplace. I sure wish I knew where the DM&E kept their ex-CP 2200 business/excursion coaches parked (since those are the ones I want to model anyway).

Anybody have any measurements or anything like that? Eric is good with Tim's picture, but any additional data would definitely be helpful. Calling all Canadians!  :D

Mark:

My friend and brand new Railwire member Chris Dittmar took a few additional pictures of the truck underneath BCOL 6506 for us today:

Apparently it is too tight to get a perfectly square on shot at the museum due to neighbouring artefacts, but these are close.  He measured the distance between wheel centres as 9'-0".

Another friend and CP modeller Geoff Gooderham provided some additional information:

"Yes, CP Tracks summer and fall 1999 issues have a detailed discussion of the truck designs, with illustrative photos. It seems that all the early curved side cars has trucks with leaf spring (like the truck that is shown under the BCR tool car), including the first series of 2200 coaches with ice air conditioning. Later cars, such as the Grove sleepers and 2235 onwards (mechanical air conditioning) had an "outside hanger and bolster equalization system".

Another friend of mine has detailed photographs of the truck but he is away at present.

Hope this helps,

P.S.  If you are not in a hurry there are 2200 series cars up at the museum in Squamish which I can photograph next visit.

Thanks a million, Tim. I'll pass all this along to Eric and see if it's enough for him to get started.

One more question - would these be for 33" or 36" wheels?

Thanks,
-Mark

Thanks again, Tim. I've passed along all of the photos information to Eric, so hopefully we'll see these trucks available from Shapeways some day (he said if it happens, it'll likely be later on this summer). Cross your fingers.

Cheers,
-Mark

That would be great.  In addition to the BCOL 6506 I have three 2200 series cars for my museum train which could be re-trucked.

Although I had seen this photo a couple of times before I never really looked at the trucks.  I was really surprised how similar the trucks on this ERIE Stillwell that was converted to a Rider car is to the trucks that were used on the CP coaches and thought I would share the link...

Got an email from Eric today - he's printing the CPR trucks this week (apparently delayed due to problems with some of the fragile details). Stay tuned.

Thanks for the update.  Do you know if these will be complete trucks or replacement sideframes for existing trucks?

I'm assuming they'll be complete trucks (like all the rest of his line).

So, what do you think?

Eric is sending me some samples to try on my Gooderham 2200 coaches. Are there any other cars that these would be appropriate for?

Thanks,
-Mark
