Z Scale 53'-6" Flat Car to be available in Denver

The first run of White City Lines Z scale 53'-6" flatcars will be available at the National Z Scale Convention this coming weekend.  Unfortunantly I can't make the show myself, but look for Matt at FVM at the swap on Friday if you'd like to pick up a kit.

The flat car itself is a lost wax brass casting.  Besides the wonderful detail and robust stirrups that can be rendered in brass, this flatcar has plenty of weight for excellent tracking.  With the stirrups cast as part of the main body (a minor feat in itself as a couple rounds of development with the caster prove) there is no difficult or finicky assembly involved.

Also included in the kit is a lasercut micro plywood deck with bolt detail.  Karin at Stonebridge models did a wonderful job lasering the decks and the included peel and stick adhesive makes it easy to attach.

A decal set, offering lettering for ERIE, M&StL, NKP, and MILW, completes the package.  All four roadnames are included in each kit so you can choose your favorite scheme.

Here's a couple completed cars:

The kit will be available for $25 as a show special.  More runs are planned if these are well received.

Very nice looking car. The more and more that comes out in Z, the more and more tempting it is. A large CR z scale layout would be epic.

Most excellent. A great addition to the Z roster.

These, with the AZL B&M RDC's really have me thinking of a 1950's B&M layout...

How dependent is the second run on show reception? I would love a MILW or M&StL and don't want to miss out because I won't be at the show.

Thanks,
Lucas

Is this different than the ACF,or GSC version's that GHQ or Athearn have done?  Admittedly, the GHQ cars are a little scarce now but the Athearn cars are nice, especially with a laser engraved deck... ;)

It's the same prototype as the GHQ model, but with more detail.  Plus, an N scale version of this car would also have a laser-cut wood deck along with body-mounted couplers,  end detail and prototypical ride height.

So....why is Matt attending the Z scale convention? Don't distract him.  He needs to concentrate on bringing more Milwaukee Road models to N!  :P
That is a great looking kit Mike. I have no need for one, but I hope that this is a successful venture for you.

Best wishes, Dave
If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Matt makes some Z items, including replacement metal wheelsets.

These are now available from Stonebridge Models at www.stonebridgemodels.com .  They're even honoring the show pricing of $25 each, though retail on the kits ended up at $30.  They should be up on their website soon.  Since Stonebridge bought my entire first run, they have a defacto exclusive on these!

Nice Chris! Whose brakewheels did you use?
