So, would you be willing to go to jail to get your hands on these flatcars?  Someone in the Pittsburgh area is.  I was at my LHS to pick up some BLMA trucks, and he tells me this story.  He had bought 24 cars from this release to sell in his shop.  They were still in a cardboard box sitting on his counter.  Four different potential customers came in and looked at the cars.  One complained about the price of the cars, but said he would be back later to possibly buy them.  Sometime later that day, someone walked out the door with all 24 cars without paying.  This shop owner is very trusting of his customers (he doesn't constantly watch everything everyone is doing).  It looks like his trust may have cost him.  He does have security cameras, so hopefully he will get a good look at the scumbag who stole them.  Amazing.  On another note, the cars do look very nice.  I have the yellow Trailer Train version reserved for my Conrail Mail and TV trains.  Thanks.

It's always a shame to hear that some modeler would go to such lengths to avoid prices they don't agree with. The fact that whoever it was stole 24 of them is a bit eccentric unless they plan to farm them out onto ebay after taking their greasy handed pick. hopefully they'll be caught and the goods unharmed.

I'll be running mine at my club today. These cars are beautiful. The detail is over the top.

This question has come of multiple times to us (but not on here...yet), so I wanted to provide this info:

The metal risers on the RTTX cars are provided for the cars as per the prototype number.  Some cars had both cut off, some cars just had the middle one cut off, some had them all left in place.

Craig / Robb

Are you able to provide the proto photos (or links to them) of the units released so that those that are inclined can weather them prototypically?

Perhaps on the BLMA site?

Interesting, someone just put 24 of this up on Trainboard's trainstore.
Which ever side of the track I am on is the right side.

I just saw that, and from Pittsburg area too.  Not that it proves anything. The sell maybe 100% legit.

Did the dealer have any tags or stickers on these cars?

I took a look at the photo of the cars for sale over at Trainboard. Not much usable meta-date in it other than he is using a Sony point-and-shoot. Had it been a smart phone, we could have gotten his exact GPS location.
