David,
Could you include etched curtains to be used for the Atlas and the BM 4-4-0 ? Perhaps they would also fit the Atlas 2-6-0?
Franz

That would be a pretty costly addition for something you should probably be able to make with aluminum foil.

David,
N-tram had etched curtains on one of their cars (Nn3). I could never make such delicate things neither from foil, tissue paper or paper. You were my last hope.

Cheers, Franz

Here is the unpainted version.  Not sure if I can get the drive rod back where it belongs.  These guys are pretty delicate for FFMs (Fat-Fingered Modelers).  Looks like the whistle is bent, too.

Needs sand pipes and water injectors.  And for us it needs wood, not coal.

Shawn and Sally,
I was contacted by Spookshow (one of ex-members here) with the following info. Looks like he has more ballz than me  :D

The dimple is actually on the rod and the hole for said dimple is in the crosshead. They’re easy to reconnect (I reconnected mine about a half dozen times while messing around with my 4-4-0 as they tend to pop out rather easily).

It took a couple tries but I got it back where it belongs.  Never did see the dimple.  Two very very small things came off.  One looks like a pilot stanchion.  The other is still a mystery.  (They look like the debris that is on my workbench.  I almost swept them away.)  Has anyone counted the parts?  Maybe that would help me identify them.

At first I thought just a very small drop of glue would hold it.  But brain cells went into alert mode and I realized it would not allow the drive rod to "rotate" in the crosshead.  There does not appear to me (retired aerospace engineer) any law of physics that governs the motion of this guy.  Second:  you cannot make a glue drop small enough to attach any of the parts.

The dimple is located on the thin part of the connecting rod's end (on its inboard side)  You're right, you can't glue the connecting rod into the crosshead as that joint needs to be articulated.  I don't know how good your eyes are but for this type of work I have use an Optivisor (and strong illumination) to be able  to see such tiny things clearly.

You're right, this loco is delicate and has lots of small fragile parts.  The photo you posted earlier shows at least one of the stanchions still in the pilot/cow catcher.  That photo also shows some light gray item under the cylinder. Whatever that is, I don't think it belongs there.

Can you post a photo of the mystery part?  Can you also post a photo taken of the bottom of the loco (like upside down plan view) to show the cylinder, crosshead and crosshead guides?

Although the NZT 4-4-0 Upgrade kit has a ways to go before it's ready for prime time, it's far enough along that I can show you this (before, above; after, below):

Oh so sexy! I did notice though the quartering is off a hair, is that just play in the drivers?

Yes, there is some play in the drivers; they are not both geared, so the rear set can shift a bit.

I congratulate you, David, on a clever, good-looking, and very nice product. I don't have this engine, but if I ever buy one, I would definitely want to change those wheel inserts!

David,
;) Did you promise us a replacement fuel load for the tender if one wishes to install a dcc decoder as shown earlier in this topic?
