That's right, metal wheels also.  First time offered on a stock-item car I believe.

Are they good-looking metal wheels, or will I be dipping into the 55-gallon drum of FVM wheelsets again?

We should wait until the car hits the market before worrying about such things.  The fact that such a model is coming in N scale from one of the giants of the industry that has tremendous influence on the direction the hobby takes is a major major turn of events on the positive side of the ledger.  Take solace in that.

If they shorten the crapumate that would just about make it a perfect car with no mods needed.

The sample at Springfield has nice wheels, not the crappy ones Atlas has been selling this past decade:

Oo, yes. Nice wheels. I had seen those photos and there was just such a huge uptick in modeling quality that my mind clearly automatically attributed it to be a product of one of our erstwhile band of "young turk" producers... Bryan... ignoring that it was Atlas responding to the challenge. Good stuff. Looks like halcyon days ahead for N once we get past the production logjam.

Keep on keepin' on raising that bar.

I think body mounting it will solve this prob. I have no qualms with the body mounted Accumates on Atlas locos, and I have been body mounting some of my rolling stock with accumates with good results.

Eventually I hope to pull a "Lee Weldon" on some of my rolling stock  ;): http://www.wmrywesternlines.net/rs_atlashoppers.php

For all intents, they are FVM wheelsets.  But, I don't think the box will have a shiny "Equipped with FVM Wheels" sticker.

Do you do anything special to keep Accumates coupled while running?  I can usually keep an accumate coupled to an MTL coupler in a decent size train, but Accumate to Accumate is always a problem.

I must be one of the few who has never had this problem. On the old layout I would run 50-70 car trains with no problems.
I WANNA SEE THE BOAT MOVIE!

Totally excellent!  I will pick up the LV and BCK cars for sure.

I will also contact Atlas and see if/when the door parts will be available seprately, in hopes that I can use them on the Intermountain 10'6" boxcar.

BTW, the steam era freight car group has a 40-foot PS-1 roster on their site:

Huh. And I have problems with Accumate to MTL on long trains. I have a 90-car train of 70-ton ore hoppers that's been converted to all MTL over the course of three years. I had quickly learned to put the MTL cars on the front. But still, every time I'd run it, I'd pull off the cars that were consistently separating, and by the time the operating session was over all but 10-15 of the Accumate cars would be in the box.

YMMV, certainly!

Pretty much... just like Exactrails boxes won't say equipped with BLMA trucks

Well, BLW has them for $18.75. Tough to build a fleet at that price point....glad I'm past all that. However, a few key players will be upgraded. Thanks

I think it's fantastic that Atlas was able to offer it at that price.  It isn't that far off from most MTL offerings on their 40' PS-1, which isn't state of the art tooling.  So I don't know what the fuss is.
